Chapter 15

I woke up the next morning, though I had barely got any sleep, in Garrett’s arms on his bed, in his room. He got up and turned off the alarm clock as I went to go to the bathroom to shower and change for the hard upcoming day. I took a hot shower and let it beat on my back. I felt like my skin was burning off so I finally got out and wrapped a towel around myself and got changed quickly.

When I went back to the bedroom he was dressed, sitting on his mini couch waiting for me.

“Okay, are you ready?” I asked him.

“Yes, but there are a few things that have been changed.” He informed me carefully.

“Okay, what kind of changes?”

“Katie, my mom and sister, her boyfriend Andrew and Addie are going to stay here,” he explained quickly, “You, Jake and I are going. As soon as we get to the hospital and get the information we need, we will call my mom and tell her so that Ria doesn’t have to worry.”

“Alright, I can deal with that…” I paced around the room.

Garrett caught my arm and swung me into his arms and kissed me with a surprising force. He then looked at me, as I started to cry.

“Everything is going to be okay. I promise I won’t let you get hurt.” He sealed with his heart.

I walked closer to him and let him wrap his arms around me. I rested my head on his chest and cried. I didn’t know how to deal withal of the stress on my shoulders it was so overwhelming I could feel my legs losing strength to keep me up as I fell towards the soft carpet. Garrett caught me and swung me into his arms as I rested my head against his shoulder, crying.

He carried me down the hall and then down the stairs.

“Oh, my gosh!” Addie gasped.

“What happened?! Is she okay?” Andrew cried out.

“Yes, she’s fine. Just overwhelmed with everything that’s going on.” He explained to everyone and their shocked faces.

I turned my head so that I could see all of them. I saw Addie and Ria’s concerned faces. I saw the surprise on Liz’s and Andrews face. Then, I saw the understanding and seriousness on Jakes face.

“Is everything in the car?” Garrett asked calmly.

“Yes, I even put food in the cooler if you get hungry.” Ria answered for Jake.

I looked at Garrett. “What’s in the car?” I asked blurry again.

“Just a suitcase of a pair of clothes for you, Jake and I, love.” Don’t worry.” He answered me calmly.

I looked out at the rest of them and saw Addie smile and Andrew hold Liz’s hand, when he called me ‘Love’.

“Okay, when do we leave?” I asked looking at Jake.

He answered my question by opening up the front door.

“Right now, Katie.” He said just as stressed out as Garrett and I was.

“Okay,” I looked at Garrett, “Let me down, please.” Not thinking about where and why we were going anywhere.

He let me down carefully. When I looked at the car I felt sick and again lost all of the strength.

“Whoa there…” Garrett called out catching my arms and standing me up then swinging me up, again, into his arms.

“How about I just carry you.” He suggested worried.

Jake looked deeply concerned and asked out loud,

“When was the last time you had blood?”

“I don’t know… last time was before I meet Garrett.” I trailed off falling into the deep waters of unconsciousness. Garrett looked at Jake then said,

“That would have been about a month ago.”

Addie and Liz exchanged a quick look, like they understood.

Jake nodded and said something but I was too deep in the water to understand.

Garrett

I looked down at Katie, who was now fainted in my arms.

“Well that makes sense she is so weak.” Jake commented.

Yeah, I thought but I just nodded thinking about how she usually looked, with her thick dark brown hair to her light beautiful green eyes. But as I looked at her face now she looked much paler than normal. And had dark circles under her eyes.

I quickly sat her in the passenger side of the car. And then ran back to get blood bags but Jake grabbed some as I ran to the door to just turn and run to the driver’s side to start the car. And so we said our goodbyes and to everyone and told them we would call them with the news. I jumped into the car, as Jake climbed in behind Katie. I looked at her, and asked Jake as I pulled out of the drive way,

“Why is it women get so weak once a month for like a day and we don’t? It’s weird isn’t it?”

“It’s kind of like their period.” He paused catching me up to where he was, “however, they drink blood not… lose blood.”

I felt my face go from interested to sorry-I-asked look.

Jake looked at me in the mirror with a serious but sorry-I-am-bringing-this-up look.

“What is it?” I asked him.

He just stared at me.

“What? Just tell me!” I said a little irritated.

“Have you had sex with my sister?” he blurted out.

“Umm,” I said slowly, “No, we haven’t done that at all…” I said uncomfortable.

“Good, because if you had last night it would have been extremely possible for her to have been pregnant.” Jake explained.

“What?!” I yelled shocked.

“Woman on the night before to the night after their period thingy it’s possible for them to get pregnant. I mean they can any day but the risk goes up lie 30 to 40 percent more likely.” He said quietly and carefully.

“Oh, my gosh! I never knew that and thank God for that!” I said bewildered…

“Yeah, I know.” Then there was silence.

I woke up feeling dizzy and sick to my stomach.

“What… where am I?” I asked looking around.

“Whoa!” Garrett said surprised.

Oh. It’s alright we are in the car on the way to the hospital…” he trailed off.

That explained the dizziness. I wasn’t moving but the car was. I looked over at Jake. Who was sitting behind me? He smiled at me.

“Hey. I figured out why you were so weak this morning.” He rested his head on the shoulder of the seat I was in so he wouldn’t have to talk loudly.

“I think I have too.” I said back to him.

“What do you think it was?” he asked me.

“I think I’m on my BC.” I said groaning.

He laughed and handed me a bottle of blood.

“Thanks.” I took it and sipped at it.

Garrett looked over at me.

“What in the world is a BC?” he asked confused.

“Blood Cycle. Every woman goes through it… at least Vampire woman.” I explained to ease his confusion.

“That makes sense.” He said then he looked over and smiled at me. I smiled back

I ended up going through two bottles of blood then I decided to take a nap because it would be a while. And I fell asleep looking out my window at the ocean as we drove beside it.
