I didn't sleep that night.
I couldn't. I just watched Murphy look peaceful in whatever he dreamed about. Probably about killing kittens or something like that.
It must be nice. To sleep I mean. Sometimes I wished sleep came easy to me like it used to.
Time passed by fairly quickly and, before I knew it, the sun was up but I didn't move.
Even when screams sounded around the camp I didn't move, i just stayed still. Murphy woke up and looked at me, but he didn't say anything. Murphy and I had this connection when he just knew when I needed time to myself. It's why I connected with him more than I my sisters actually. Don't get me wrong I love those girls with my heart and would probably die without them, but me and Murphy just connect without really needing to say words.
He was gone for a little while before he came back, an almost haunted look on his face. I got worried, pushing my problems to the back of my mind and start comforting Murphy. I wrap my arms around him as he leans into my arms.
"What wrong Murph?"
"Wells is dead" he said, his tone blank. I blinked, trying to comprehend what he said. Wells died? How? Who did it?
"We're pretty sure the grounders did it" he added.
"I should have been watching camp" I said, tears pricking my eyes, but not falling.
"It wasn't your fault Sarah" he looked up at me as he said, brushing the tears away.
"If I wasn't confined to this bed, I could have done something. If I hadn't got jumped by the grounders I would have been stronger. If I would have been smarter against the water snake, I wouldn't have been injured in the first place. And this is the price. The one thing I was supposed to do and I couldn't even do that" I said, smacking my palm again my head angrily.
"Look Sarah you can't save everyone!" He yelled at me. I looked at him shocked.
"You can't . No matter how hard you try, you just can't. It doesn't matter how strong or fast and skilled you are, you can't save all of us. We have to try and save ourselves sometimes. It's part of being human" he smiled as he finished and pulled me closer, as tears gathered in my eyes but still didn't drop. They never did anymore.

I was feeling much better later on in the day and decided to test my wounds. And what better way to do that than to go out training. I've seen the grounders and the weapons they use. And although I could take out a good number of them with my guns, I would run out of ammo before I could finish their numbers off. I had only seen a few of them and I'm pretty sure they had more. More people had to survive than what I'd seen so far.
This also means that I need to have training partners. And there are no better training partners than my sisters, who were currently helping build the wall Murphy told me they were now starting. Bellamy was giving orders, as usual and I couldn't see Clarke, but one would assume she was grieving. Best to leave her alone
Before I got my sisters, I would have to make weapons. We still had some metal from the drop ship and I could use it to make weapons, but I was never that good at it. Thankfully Tessa was, so I grabbed some pieces and carried them over to my sisters.
"As good as it is to see you guys working to keep the camp safe, in getting my training in and you two are coming with me" I demand more than ask them.
"That an order officer?" Kayla says with attitude.
"Yes. It is. I also can see on both your faces that you'd rather be anywhere but here and you need to train. If I trust anyone else to keep this camp safe should something happen to me, it's you two" I finish my statement, then walk past them, making my way out of camp. I heard them drop the log and then hurry after me, falling into step.
"ORO!"
And the king of all douchebags has finally noticed my presence. How unfortunate for me.
"Where do you think you three are going?" Bellamy demanded of us, mostly me.
"I'm doing something and their coming with me. Problem?" I answered back with much sass.
"Yes I do. We need to build the wall to protect ourselves from the grounders. We need to make weapons. We need to be prepared and I can't have you taking random campers because you want to do your own thing. Now you two get back to camp!" He said with finality in his voice.
"How about no?" Kayla said, crossing her arms, Tessa mirror in her pissed off expression. He turned back around, shocked someone that was not me was questioning his authority.
He marched back, attempting to grab Tessa's arm, but my dagger was at his neck before he got the chance. He froze and locked eyes with me, before stepping back.
"Let's make this clear Blake. You touch them, talk to them, or think about them, I slice your throat. I don't want to, because no matter how much it pains me to see, those kids believe in you. But if you disrespect my family, you will be met with a very quick death, I don't care if I leave Octavia with no family left. Do I make myself clear Blake?" I finish, venom lacing my tone.
He nodded quickly, a shocked look on his face as the ferocity of my words. I remove my blade and he rubs the spot on his neck, before looking over us all.
"Just be back before nightfall" he said, before storming back into camp.
"Jeez sis, you can get really scary sometimes" Tessa joked.
"I get pretty protective over you two. I have good reason to" I said, picking up the weapons.
"Now let's get moving. I know the perfect place to train" I said with a smirk as I led them to one of my secret spots.
