Okay, so I'm really sorry! I didn't actually realize you could this on the computer until today and I may or may not have dropped my phone in the bathtub while watching YouTube... so I haven't really been able to update for a while and I'm so sorry. So I go back on Wattpad and I just think to myself "Holy Crap! Why do people like this so much?! I only have two chapters and like 30 people have read it." Which is pretty cool, and honestly makes me insanely happy. I definitely want to be an author and I feel like I'm off to a pretty good start. So yeah, sorry for the long A/N.
Enjoy the story!
There's a one day time skip from the last chapter, so it's about 2:00 in the afternoon.
Dick and Wally were just wandering the Mountain, not overly sure what to do.
What can you do, especially if you haven't had a mission in a few weeks. You just get bored. Insanely bored. They'd already watched all Wally's Disney movies twice, had helped M'ghann bake enough cookies to feed an army for a week and then just lost their minds.
"Stop pacing! You're stressing me out!" Artemis called from the couch.
"How does that even work?! I'm just walking!" Wally rolled his eyes.
"Back and forth and back and forth! Over and over again! It's irritating!"
Just like that, the two of them started bickering and it didn't look like they would stop for a while.
Dick sighed, "Well, I'm going outside, I'll lose my mind otherwise."
Hoping that someone had heard him, he just left them to their ridiculous argument in favor of taking a walk to clear his thoughts.
As he walked down the beach, he removed is shoes and rolled up his pants to splash through the surf that was tempting him with the gentle waves rolling up on the sand.
He dug his toes into the wet sand, feeling the grains move over and around his feet. He walked farther and farther down the beach until he couldn't see Mount Justice anymore. He wasn't lost, no, he knew exactly where he was, it's just that he'd gotten distracted and wandered too far. He'd gone so far that he was by the edge of a line of trees.
Dick sat down at the edge of the water, his toes still touching the cool ocean surf. He watched as the waves crashed down on the water in front of them and as the ripples climbed and retreated over his feet. He became almost hypnotized by the ocean's gentle movement and serene sound.
So much so that he didn't notice the person creeping up behind him.
A hand clamped over his mouth as an arm wrapped around his chest and started dragging him back, towards the line of trees.
He trashed, trying to get away, but the person's grip was like iron. Dick bit down on the hand covering his mouth, only to be rewarded with brief reprisal before receiving a hard fist to the top of his head.
He went limp when the fist made contact.
