Anything written in Italics is what a character is thinking. That is all.

Katie's POV

As we stood there, the doorbell rang. Dick immediately looked up and started down the stairs. I followed after him.

"That would be Wally." He noted as we went.

When he opened the door, a guy maybe 16 or 17 with bright red hair walked in. His arms were spread dramatically.

"The Wallman is here!" He announced.

Then the redhead noticed me giving him a look and his arms dropped.

"And... who is this?" Obviously talking about me.

Dick elbowed him.

"Wally, this is Katie. Katie, Wally."

"Nice to meet you, West."

He briefly glared at my friend.

"Did he-"

"Tell me?" I laughed a bit. "Nah, I just know things."

"How'd you find out?"

Oh god. This was going to be awkward.

"Uhhh... I-Maybe I followed you guys on missions occasionally. I didn't have much else to do, what with being kicked out when I was twelve."

Too much information!! TAKE IT BACK TAKE IT BACK TAKE IT BACK!! Ah crap, he's already talking.

My face erupted in a ridiculous blush. I wanted simultaneously to slam my head into a desk or go hide in a hole for the next millennia.

"You were twelve?" He sounded sad, like he'd dealt with something similar.

Well, no going back now.

"Yeah, my mom didn't like magic much. Of course I had to be able to use it, she didn't like that much."

That's an understatement.

"Damn, that sucks. How old are you?"

"Fourteen."

"How long've you been staying here?"

The three of us started to walk towards the game room.

"Just yesterday, since I got hurt helping him escape from Deathstroke." I pointed at Dick.

"Wait, when did Deathstroke get you? You were at the Mountain two days ago."

What? I found him yeah, but I thought he'd been there a lot longer. I found the Boy Wonder, and helped him escape. Within 48 hours? And literally no one thought there was anything wrong? Even his best friend? I was a little proud of myself. First 'mission' and I'd saved Robin from a kidnapping that barely lasted two days. But why had Deathstroke even wanted him?

"Yeah, but he got me when I went outside. You and Artemis were driving me crazy."

Wally ran a hand through his hair.

"I didn't even notice you leave. God, when Roy hears about this-"

"Do not tell Roy!" Dick sounded a little panicked.

"He'll find out anyway."

"Not from you! Because you aren't telling him!"

Who was this  'Roy' person? Obviously they both knew him well, but why didn't Dick want to tell him?

Wally sighed.

"Alright."

We arrived at the game room and the boys sat on a leather couch, in front of a TV. I chose a chair that matched. Wally had stretched his legs out towards his friend, but Dick had shoved them off.

Then he tossed me a Wii remote. Amazingly, I caught it.

"You ever played Mario Kart?"

Well, duh. Even a street kid like me has played it at least once. That doesn't mean I was good at it, but it was fun.

"Not much." I knew I'd probably lose, but I was excited.

"Katie?" Wally asked tentatively.

"Yeah?" I wondered what the speedster might ask.

"You said you could use magic, is that like, Zatanna stuff?"

I smiled.

"Yeah. It's really fun, I love it."

"So... what kind of spells do you use?"

I tried to think of one, but I hadn't done it much. Aside from that pencil and the Deathstroke thing.

"Do you want an example?"

He shrugged, but both he and Dick looked intrigued.

"Sure."

"gnirB em ym mrofinu."

The outfit I had worn in battle appeared in front of me, folded. You could still see the tear in the side of my shirt and the blood stains.

"There ya go." I was proud, I'd never actually tried to do that before. Doing it on a first try was almost unheard of.

"That is awesome!" They said it in complete unison.

"Thanks."

NanananananananananananaTIMESKIP!!

I was losing epically to Wally, I was in last place and kept falling off the edge. I was having the time of my life, laughing and crashing the car into walls. These were easily my best friends on the entire planet. Granted, I'd never had many, but still.

Wally's phone rang, with some unknown theme song.

"Hey, Uncle Barry."

"Okay."

"Alright I'm on my way, don't do anything interesting without me."

"Sorry guys, I've got to go."

I smiled. "It was nice meeting you, Wally."

"See ya later Katie. You too Dick."

"Yeah have fun."

A mischievous smirk spread across his face.

"I will."
