Wally and I left my room holding hands. Of course, Dick had told everyone. Zatanna was giving me a strange look that I can't even describe. Artemis was scowling, but I expected it. M'ghann was floating around the room excitedly. Jason was mocking me along with Dick. Not exactly mocking, but giving me a look like 'finally, you socially pathetic weirdo'.
Then all our comms beeped, Batman's face filling the tiny screens.
"Come to the mission room, I have something for you guys."
"Yes!" Wally exclaimed, voicing everyone's thoughts.
"egnahC sehtolc otni smrofinu!" Zatanna and I called out at the same time. We'd found out it was easier to use any spell if we combined our power.
Wally jumped backwards.
"That is weird!" He pulled at the fabric of his shirt. Jason had literally zero(aha pun intended) reaction, as he was used to my magic-oriented pranks.
We arrived in the missions room, where my mentor was waiting.
"There's a store in Gotham that we believe to be run by the Injustice League. Your job is to go undercover and investigate covertly." He emphasized it with a meaningful glance over each of us, pausing slightly as his eyes reached Wally.
"Wait, I thought we got rid of them?" The comment from Zatanna was rather surprising, and it received a pointed look from the Bat. Then he continued.
"Which means, no uniforms."
At least we hadn't spent more than five seconds changing.
"Zero and Robin will investigate the North end of the store. Nightwing and Zatanna will take the East. Superboy and Miss Martian take the West. Aqualad and KidFlash will take South. Work towards the middle, and call the rest of the Team if anything happens. Got it?"
Nods from everyone.
Le timeskip to arrival.
Of course a covert op, didn't stay that way. Blah blah fighting, just the usual. Until Jason was gone. I searched around me from where I stood.
'Jason?' I called through the mindlink.
'Have you guys seen Jason?!'
'No.'
'Not for a while, no'
'Nope.'
'Nuh-uh'
Oh for the love of Pete! I lost my brother, I'd just gotten him back! Just gotten part of my old life back together!'I'm going to go find him!'
Panic surged through me.
"Robin?! Robin?! Dammit, Robin! Where are you!?" Then someone grabbed my shoulder. I whirled around, punching them in the face. It was not Jason, thankfully. Unfortunately, it was my mother. And there were three other assassins with her.
She yelled, holding her face. In case you were wondering, it felt amazing.
I didn't respond, instead taking out one of the other assassin's, sweeping their legs out from under them and I may or may not have broken their nose.... On purpose....(Don't tell Batman)
The other two surged forward while I was busy pinning mother up to a wall.
"kcitS eht snissassa ot a llaw!"
They managed to catch my arms behind my body and started to drag me away.
"teL em og!"
Immediately, they dropped my arms, blinking confusedly. Before resuming our battle.
One of them pulled a red bow from who knows where, aiming it at the other and letting an arrow fly. They took off their hood and it turned out to be Roy Harper, otherwise known as Arsenal.
"I was doing fine." He smirked.
"I know, I was just bored."
"Doesn't seem like you, Arrow."
He shrugged.
"I heard you yelling, I know where he is."
"Of course you do. Can you help me? I mean I know you don't want to work with the Team, but this is personal."
"Yeah, come on. We'll have to hurry though, it will not be good if we can't get to him."
"Are you kidding me?! Let's go! That's my brother, we have to go!"
"What about them?"
"They'll be fine! Go! Now! Us! Robin!"
