Yay! Another chapter! Two in a day, enjoy you absolute pancakes. (I'm one too, so don't worry)

Bruce took us to the Mansion and on the way, Katie didn't move off my lap once. Or in general. She was breathing, but that's literally the only way you'd know she was alive. Her eyes were closed and she looked like a ghost. I think she was asleep, but I'm not really sure. I don't really know why, but I started stroking her hair. I was comforting myself more than her, but I swear she smiled.

Once the two of us were fixed up, Bruce had to find somewhere for her to stay. I suggested my room. I knew she'd probably be scarred from her encounter with Deathstroke. And no one gets that as much as I do. Sure, Bruce gets it, but he's also a heavy sleeper. Meaning he probably wouldn't wake up if she had a nightmare or something. I flew up to my room when he told me that it was a good idea.

I let her have my bed, and made a nest on the floor for myself out of blankets and pillows. I usually did anyways.

She eventually came upstairs and knocked lightly on the door.

"Yep!" I called through the door.

She entered tentatively. Since Katie didn't actually have any pajamas , I decided to be a brat and give her my Batman one's. They'd been a gag gift from Wally, but I'd given him the same ones at his birthday. Her chocolate hair was pulled into a braid.

She sat next to me.

"Nice costume." I said, referring to the mission, which apparently she caught onto.

"I made it myself. But I did take a lot of inspiration from yours." A blush started creeping up her face.

I laughed, "I'm flattered. Where'd you learn all that?"

Her blush deepened.

"I taught myself after watching you on missions, and I've always been good with magic."

"What do you mean 'good with magic'?" I asked.

"I used to love magic tricks, then one day Dad got me a magic set. I was so happy. It took me a while, but I started to realise that it wasn't all misdirection or whatever. I was actually using magic. I was about ten when I figured it out. Then I saw Zatanna, and thought I would try an actual spell. I made a pencil levitate in front of my Mom and she kicked me out when she saw. She said it was witchcraft. I dunno, we never really got along anyway.  Dad wasn't home yet so when he found out, he wasn't happy. He kicked her out, hoping I'd come back. But I couldn't. I still go to school, Dad pays for it. I live on the streets most of the time. Dad's still nice, I just don't want to go home. It has too many bad memories for me, but I go home on Christmas. For him, not me."

I nearly kicked myself when I asked, "When was that?"

She looked down.

"Two years ago. I was twelve. I just saw you and Artemis and Zatanna and thought that I could do it. It's not like I've got anything to lose. I tracked the missions and watched them. I practiced in my free time. I freaked a lot of people out." Katie sighed.

Just then, Bruce walked in.

"I see you guys have hit it off. Time to go to bed."

I gestured towards the bed when he left.

"Are you sure?" She asked quietly.

I nodded confidently. "Yeah, I prefer the floor."

She crawled in and smiled at me.

"One last thing, if you have a nightmare or something. Wake me up."

Katie nodded and snuggled into the blankets contentedly.

I covered myself with blankets and let myself drift off to sleep.

Sizzle, I am on fiyah! So yeah it's short but I think it's ok... I should do a Q&A with the characters, maybe me too?... I dunno, let me know what you think.
