Katie's POV

Talking with Jason went a lot better than I thought it would. I considered myself lucky I didn't get punched in the face or something. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not.

"Please, help me."

"I'll do my best. Where do ya want to go? What do you want to do?"

"I don't know."

"You tell me, I'm good with whatever."

"Can we just wander Gotham?" Under any other circumstances, this would be a horrible idea. But I figured we'd be fine, we were us. I was sure we'd be fine.

"Alright, sounds good."

I stood first, letting him choose to follow. Which he did.

I walked joyfully down the stairs.

"Dad?!" I called as I reached the bottom and grabbed my purse. Then I stumbled, realizing what I'd just said.

He popped his head out from behind a door.

"Dad?" He asked. I'd never called him that before.

"Um, if you don't-"

" It's alright, I like it."

"Okay."

I flicked my head backward a bit, trying to point Jason out subtly. He knew what I was 'talking' about and nodded with a small smile on his face. I guess this is what the Team is referring to when they say we have our own language, Bat Talk I think is what they called it. Or something like that.

"We're just headed out for a bit. Be back soon."

"Have fun, kiddo."

"We will."

I was so happy! I'd gotten Jason out of his little bubble of sadness. I knew he'd probably never be quite the same, but I was confident I could get him close.

We walked around the city for a while. I noticed that my brother wasn't overly enthusiastic.

"Jay whats wrong?"

"I dunno, something just feels... wrong." I stopped immediately.

"What do you mean 'wrong'?" I said, suddenly worried.

He thought about it for a while.

"Kind of like-"

A figure stepped out of the shadows.

"Like that." Silently, I was unimpressed. You could literally not go anywhere without some villain making trouble for you. It was kind of irritating, but it was Gotham City.

"What's your problem?" I said, showing my annoyance. "Oh jeez." Silently cursing, I realized who was standing in front of me.

"N-n-n-no! Not again!" Jason looked like he was going to have a panic attack. Which made just a little too much sense, considering who was approaching us.

"My, my, my. Two bat brats, it would would seem. Hmm..."

"Get away from him!"

"Feisty one aren't you?" I swept Jason behind me, away from the monster in front of us.
