no you're not

Lauren's finally back home after 6 months in LA where she's working on the group's debut EP. Lucy's realized six months is too damn long. She's almost bought a plane ticket to visit her with her dad's credit card at least 5 times. It's disgusting really.

But now Lauren is home and underneath her, naked and even more beautiful than she was before she left. It's like she gets better every time. And softer and hotter and sexier and-

"Lauren, I'm gay."

She doesn't think it through. Just blurts it out against the girl's neck. She anticipates her reaction with closed eyes, face pressed into the crook of her neck and hands frozen in their place on the other girl's hips. But Lauren's not moving.

Why isn't she responding? Hugging me? Telling me she still loves me?

"No you're not."

Lucy feels it sting all throughout her body when Lauren utters the words in one breath with a dismissive scoff. The words she spent so long struggling to find, admit to herself, let alone tell anyone that's not Vero, let alone tell Lauren. Who, if anyone were to force her, she'd definitely list as the number one cause for her unfortunate case of homosexuality. Even though Vero says that's not actually how it works.

Lucy looks up to meet her best friend's piercing green eyes, her own filled with disbelief and hurt.

"You just can't be, that would mean you-" Lauren pulls her hands off of Lucy's body like she's got the plague.

Lauren has her virginity.

"You know I'm not like that right?"

And Lauren has a boyfriend.

"I mean if that's what you were going with that."

Her voice softens for a moment and she's holding Lucy's heart in the palms of her hands.

She has that, too.

"Just know that I would never-" she starts looking for her underwear on the floor, "This ends here."

Her whole body is tense and she's balling her fists. And her nails might as well be digging straight into Lucy's naked heart.

"Yeah," the older girl swallows her tears, "yeah, I know. Definitely not where I was going."

"Oh really?! Because we were doing just fine right before you opened your mouth to ruin everything. You're telling me this now? You really fucked it up, you know that?!"

She has venom laced into her voice and Lucy can't look at her. Especially not like this, naked and angry and still so beautiful.

"I- uh- I gotta go." Lucy is suddenly ready to disappear completely, the shame suffocating her. It's all wrong and messed up now. Her words, her actions, her desires, her body, still half on top of Lauren's. She quickly removes herself from the bed and starts looking for her clothes, tears welling up in her eyes the second Lauren can't see her face. The girl's vicious words are running on repeat in her mind and she feels sick to her stomach.

"See you around." she mutters when she's covered enough, half her clothing still in a messy bundle in her arms.

This was all a big, big mistake.

Lauren doesn't say a word as she slams the door shut behind her, the rest of her clothes dropping to the floor as she breaks down in the Jaureguis' hallway. Hand pressed to her mouth to stop the wails from reaching Lauren's ears.

You're a mistake.
