PROJECT DAWN : THE AFTERMATH

A New Beginning

The town had been grown into a well fortified settlements and housed more than thousands of men and women. Lena step out from a house and having a smoke. She puffs and watch the townspeople build a new watchtower.

Ray : Didn't know that you're smoking
Lena : Yeah and now you do. What's up Ray?
Ray : Nothing. Just check up on you, see if you're fine. It's been three months since then....
Lena : Time flies. How's the training?
Ray : Not going well. These aren't made to fight after all.
Lena : No one does but sooner or later they will get used to it.
Ray : Hmm?
Lena : The lost of their home, loved ones, faith, will push them over their limits.

An announcement came out from the intercom that were installed in the middle of the town.

"Lena, please come and see me. Now."

Ray : Doc are calling for you. Go, don't let the old man wait.

She dispose her smoke and walk.

Ray : And uh....

She stop.

Ray : Take this.

He throws a small box and she catch it. She smile and make her way to the Doc's new office. She knock on the door and a voice tell her to come in.

Doc : Please have a seat. Would you like some coffee?
Lena : Yes, please.

Doc went to his small table and pouring out coffee from his jugs into two small cups.

Doc : There's something I want to tell you. Cream or sugar?
Lena : Both.
Doc : [sit beside Lena] Here you go.
Lena : [sip]. What is it, Doc?
Doc : It's about your brother. Mark just came back from the government quarantine zone and he told me that the government had tricked wanderers to be a part of their experiment.
Lena : Mark?
Doc : He's one of the townspeople. I assigned him as one of our scout few days ago.
Lena : So what it has to do with Jake?
Doc : There are rumors spreading through the zone and one of it says that the government are using the mutants or the hybrids and they are going to be sent to the modern coliseum that were built by them. The mutants will be put to fight against one another and the champion will be rewarded with a total freedom.
Lena : And?
Doc : Jake's name somehow were on the participant list.
Lena : What?! But he's dead.
Doc : Apparently not.
Lena : B-but how?
Doc : Mutants are gifted with superhuman strength. However, the hybrids, are stronger than the mutants. They had tremendous regenerating rate, stronger, faster, and smarter.
Lena : And the winner will get a total freedom.
Doc : Actually, I doubt that. The president won't let his champ go easily without some terms.
Lena : You mean...?
Doc : He want to assemble an army of strongest.
Lena : Tell me where is the building!
Doc : I'm afraid I can't.
Lena : Jake is there and we need to ger him out of there!
Doc : There are two things I concerned. One, what if Jake is not stable and still beyond our control? He's a hybrid. I'm not even sure if he is still Jake or a monster.
Lena : I have a faith on him.
Doc : Actually I worried about that lesser than the second things.
Lena : What is it?
Doc : Those wanderers, they aren't forced to be mutants, they volunteered. Which mean, enemy of the government is also the enemy of their.

"It's not hard."

Doc : John? When did you...?
John : I'll go and get Jake out of there.
Doc : How?
John : Join the bloodbath. Only the victor will be rewarded with a total freedom, right?
Doc : Yes and how are you planning to win?
John : I don't. I'll only fight all the way through until I meet Jake.
Doc : But you have to go through the mutants!
John : And they have to go through me.
Lena : Dad, how's your wounds? You were just healed and I can't let you go!
John : Trust me. I will leave tomorrow by sunrise.

John left the office and Lena followed her father.

Lena : Are you out of your mind?!
John : Maybe. I can't just storm through the enemy lines with guns and bomb.
Lena : I-I-I...
John : Just trust me, okay?

The next morning, John bring Ray and Mark as his companions and they soon depart for their destination.

Mark : I'm sorry to bother you two but why only one of you brought weapons?
John : I want to make sure that if the plan failed, we'd move for plan B.
Mark : Which is?
Ray : Kill everyone.
John : Including me.
Mark : W-wait! Are you fucking serious?!
John : One word coming out of your fucking mouth and I will make sure that you'll be the one I kill first before we move to plan B.
Mark : ........
Ray : We're almost there. Here's your clothes, John.
John : Alright. If I didn't signal you after three days....
Ray : You got it.
John : Got to go. I got some mutants to kill.
