After picking out a couple of pumpkins and walking around for a while, we pay the farmer and leave him a friendly tip for closing down his property. Because Louis still doesn't feel comfortable driving my car I drop him off at home with the pumpkins and collect Niall to head over to our meeting. Throughout the drive over to Kensington, Niall and I talk about where Louis took me and how we've been spending our morning.
"Not very romantic" he comments. "It was a nice activity, we were able to talk and I actually had a great time" I reply, defending Louis. I'm curious to see what else he has in store for me as he did mention our date would continue once the meeting is over. "How did Eli react when you told him?" Niall asks and I tell him I have tried to contact Eli but that he has been busy with work. I would prefer to tell him in person rather than over the phone or him finding out through someone else. I really hope we can stay friends.
We meet up with Zayn and Liam outside of Syco Records, all very excited yet slightly nervous about this meeting as we will find out what the team thinks of our demos. We head in and walk directly towards the same conference room we always occupy during our meetings here, not even bothered to say hello to anyone who's currently working, as rude as it may seem.
We all pick one of the large black leather chairs and take a seat before taking our phones from our pockets and entertaining ourselves until Simon, Phil and the others join us. I smile when I see the picture Louis has sent me. He has put all the pumpkins on the kitchen counter and took a selfie with them, captioning it. 'I think they like me!' but before I can send him a reply people enter the room and we have to put away our phones.
"Good afternoon," Simon says and takes a seat at the head of the table, his team picking seats next to us. It's quite surprising to hear Simon actually really likes the demos we've been sending him and he gives us free range to pick out our next single that will be released before springtime next year. The meeting has a positive vibe, not something we're actually used to when it comes to Simon but we are pleasantly surprised. They talk about how proud they are of how far we have come with our songwriting because on the first two albums there are only a few songs we actually wrote ourselves.
Liam replies telling them how we were able to get involved a lot more the last few years, he thanks them for the opportunities while the rest of us just nod but remain silent. We talk about the release of our upcoming single 'Story of my life' and Simon tells us what offers they have received when it comes to TV shows, informing us he doesn't want us to do too many because we have to focus on the new album. I find it a little odd how we're not going to be taking most of the offers like we have done with previous singles. We won't even go abroad to promote our single but I decide not to question it and just listen to whatever they have to say.
"But before we continue I believe I have something to show you lot" Simon laughs and turns to the screen behind him, motioning for someone to turn off the lights and he presses play, the screen coming to life and our new video starts playing on the large screen. We watch it and I can't help but glance over at Liam because he wrote most of it, of course, everyone helped and made small changes but I'd like to think it's his song and it's nice to see him smile as he stares at the screen.
The video turned out nicely and I'm sure the fans will really appreciate the effort we've put into it. We take the time to talk to Simon about the video and future videos and that we would like to do some more acting because we really enjoyed the experience surrounding the 'Best song ever' video. Nothing major but more than just walking around with the tiniest bit of acting like we did in the videos for 'Gotta be you' or 'What makes you beautiful'.
