Changing Me

Choices...

I woke up and looked at the clock it was about eight thirty. At first I thought that I was late for work. But then I realized that it was Saturday. I heard Derek and Lilian talking in the living room. I walked out to see that Shannon was sitting at the dinning room table looking over papers. I guess that they are the divorce papers. 

Shannon looked up and said " Why are you doing this to me?" "What divorcing you?" he asked. "No I don't care about us getting a divorce. I am talking about you wanting full custody of Lilian. Do you even know how to take care of her." She made a good point and he realized that. He looked at Lilian and said " Well if you don't care that we are getting a divorce. Then why won't you sign the papers. I was supposed to leave for England yesterday. And why would you ever say that I don't know how to take care of her?" Shannon was furious now and you could tell. "You were never there. Not when Lilian was born or when she took her first steps and said her first word. You were always at work!" she yelled.

I guess Lilian realized that they were fighting and she started to cry and yell "Mommy!" Shannon walked over and picked her up and looked at Derek and said "I think its about time you left. My lawyer will be in touch. I don't want see you here until the court date is over with."

I had never seen Shannon so angry. I guess that Derek and Shannon really were done. And she made that very clear. Lilian had finally stopped crying a little bit after he left. I ran back into my room. Thank God that the floors didn't creak.

I took a long bubble bath and then I heard a knock on my bathroom door. I asked who it was. Shannon said that she needed to talk to me. I told her she could come in if she wanted to. She did.

She jump up onto the counter and sat. She said "Stuff needs to change. With Derek trying to get full custody of Lilian it is going to be hard to balance everything for a while. would you mind quitting the internship to watch Lilian for me?" I sat there in the tub and thought about it. Maybe its for the best. Me and Andrew could use some time away from each other instead of everytime we turn around we are with each other.

I told her that I would be glad to quit the internship to watch Lilian.

After she left, I got out of the tub and got dressed. I grabbed my Laptop and got on the website for the office. I sent a e-mail to Mr. Hannon ( Andrew's step dad) saying that I am so sorry but I have to respectfully quit the internship and that I will drop by in the morning to return my keys and collect my things. 

Now all I have to do is tell Andrew.... :(
