Ch 15 Grave Problems

The next couple of days pasted by and Jaden and Alexis' bond together was growing and growing. Both knew that Jaden was from the future but his intentions were different then before. The next day in Banners class said that there was going to be a field trip to the ancient ruins and he told Jaden and his little group of people to come on the field trip or they would get detention if they refused. So the day of the field trip Alexis  walked over to the Slifer dorm and awoke the three boys up. Jaden said "I could get use to a pretty girl waking me up every day.

Chazz was going to awake when he got all upset having to wake up so early. then he decided to go back to bed and risk detention. Jaden knew that Banner was planning to test him to see if he is as strong as he is. Then they got to where Banner wanted to meet them. They hiked about two miles to the ancient ruins. Jaden kept a close eye on Banner and to see what he did that triggered them being transported to another dimension. Then he saw Pharoh the cat start to dig something up and then they were transported to another world.

Jaden then was separated from the gang and then he ran into a duel spirit that was going to help him. The spirit led him to the temple of the gravekeepers. He then heard a girl scream for help and he recognized  it as Alexis' voice. Jaden then ran to the area they were at when the Gravekeepers Chief appeared. Jaden said "I challenge you to a duel and if I win then you let your prisoners go." The Chief said "but if I win you will join your friends and be a mummy with all of them."

Jaden and the Chief said "duel." Chief draws. He then Sets a monster. Jaden draws. He then Normal Summons "Elemental Hero Bubbleman" (800/1200) in Attack Position. Since Jaden summoned "Bubbleman" while he had no other cards on his side of the field, its second effect activates, letting him draw two cards. Jaden then Sets a card ("Transcendent Wings").

Chief draws "Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier" and subsequently Normal Summons it (1500/1000) in Attack Position. He then Flip Summons "Gravekeeper's Guard" (1000/1900) to Attack Position. Since "Gravekeeper's Guard" was flipped face-up, its Flip Effect activates, returning "Bubbleman" to Jaden's hand. "Gravekeeper's Guard" and "Gravekeeper's Spear Solder" attack directly (Jaden 4000 → 3000 → 1500).

Jaden draws "Polymerization" and subsequently activates it to fuse "Elemental Hero Avian" with "Elemental Hero Burstinatrix" in order to Fusion Summon "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" (2100/1200) in Attack Position. "Flame Wingman" attacks and destroys "Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier" (Chief 4000 → 3400). Since "Flame Wingman" destroyed a monster by battle and sent it to the Graveyard, its effect activates, inflicting damage to the Chief equal to the ATK of his monster (Chief 3400 → 1900). Jaden then Normal Summons "Wroughtweiler" (800/1200) in Defense Position.

Chief draws. He then switches "Gravekeeper's Guard" to Defense Position and Sets a monster. Jaden draws. "Flame Wingman" attacks and destroys "Gravekeeper's Guard". The effect of "Flame Wingman" then activates (Chief 1900 → 900).

Chief draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it to draw two cards ("Necrovalley" and "Gravekeeper's Assailant"). The Chief then Normal Summons "Gravekeeper's Assailant" (1500/1500) in Attack Position. He then Flip Summons "Gravekeeper's Curse" (800/800) to Attack Position. Since "Gravekeeper's Curse" was summoned, its effect activates, inflicting 500 damage to Jaden (Jaden 1500 → 1000). The Chief then activates "Necrovalley". Now all Gravekeeper monsters will gain 500 ATK and DEF ("Gravekeeper's Assailant": 1500 → 2000/1500 → 2000; "Gravekeeper's Curse": 800 → 1300/800 → 1300) and any card effect that takes a card(s), besides the card that the card effect belongs to, out of their Graveyard and moves it to a different place will be negated.

"Gravekeeper's Assailant" attacks "Flame Wingman". Chief then activates the effect of "Gravekeeper's Assailant" to switch "Flame Wingman" to Defense Position. "Gravekeeper's Assailant" destroys "Flame Wingman". "Gravekeeper's Curse" attacks and destroys "Wroughtweiler". Jaden tries to activate the effect of "Wroughtweiler" to add an "Elemental Hero" and "Polymerization" from his Graveyard to his hand, but "Necrovalley" negates that effect. Jaden draws "Winged Kuriboh" and subsequently Normal Summons it (300/200) in Defense Position.

Chief draws. "Gravekeeper's Assailant" attacks "Winged Kuriboh", but Jaden activates his face-down "Transcendent Wings" to discard "Elemental Hero Bubbleman" and "Silent Doom" and Tribute "Winged Kuriboh" in order to Special Summon "Winged Kuriboh LV10". Chief's hand contains "Royal Tribute", "Hieroglyph Lithograph", "Dark Designator", "Gravekeeper's Watcher", and "Graverobber's Retribution". Since Jaden activated an effect that requires him to discard, the Chief sends the "Gravekeeper's Watcher" in his hand to the Graveyard in order to activate its effect, negating the activation of "Transcendent Wings" and destroying it. "Gravekeeper's Assailant" then destroys "Winged Kuriboh". Since "Winged Kuriboh" was destroyed, its effect activates, preventing Jaden from taking any more Battle Damage this turn. Chief then Sets a card.

Jaden draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it to draw two cards ("Dark Catapulter" and "Draining Shield"). Jaden then Normal Summons "Dark Catapulter" (1000/1500) in Defense Position. Jaden then activates "Mirage of Nightmare". Now during each of the Chief's Standby Phases, Jaden can draw until he has four cards in his hand, but during each of Jaden's Standby Phases, he must discard cards equal to the number of cards he drew via "Mirage of Nightmare". Jaden intends to use the effect of "Dark Catapulter" to destroy "Necrovalley" and then follow up with the effect of "Mirage of Nightmare" to give him the cards he needs to win. Jaden then Sets three cards.

Chief draws "Gravekeeper's Chief". On the Chief's Standby Phase, the effect of "Mirage of Nightmare" activates, letting Jaden draw four cards ("Elemental Hero Sparkman", "Elemental Hero Clayman", "Elemental Hero Necroshade", and "The Warrior Returning Alive"). The Chief then Tributes "Gravekeeper's Curse" in order to Tribute Summon "Gravekeeper's Chief" (1900 → 2400/1200 → 1700) in Attack Position. Due to the latter monster's first effect, the Chief's Graveyard is no longer affected by the effect of "Necrovalley".

Since "Gravekeeper's Chief" was Tribute Summoned, its last effect activates, letting the Chief Special Summon "Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier" (1500 → 2000/1000 → 1500) from his Graveyard in Attack Position. The Chief then activates his face-down "Rite of Spirit" to Special Summon "Gravekeeper's Curse" (800 → 1300/800 → 1300) from his Graveyard in Attack Position. The effect of "Gravekeeper's Curse" then activates (Jaden 1000 → 500).

"Gravekeeper's Assailant" attacks "Dark Catapulter". The Chief then activates the effect of "Gravekeeper's Assailant" to switch "Dark Catapulter" to Attack Position. Jaden then activates his face-down "Emergency Provisions" to send "Mirage of Nightmare" and his face-down "Fusion Sage" to the Graveyard and gain 1000 Life Points for each card sent this way (Jaden 500 → 2500). "Gravekeeper's Assailant" then destroys "Dark Catapulter" (Jaden 2500 → 1500).

"Gravekeeper's Chief" attacks directly, but Jaden activates his face-down "Draining Shield" to negate the attack and increase his Life Points by the ATK of "Gravekeeper's Chief" (Jaden 1500 → 3900). "Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier" and "Gravekeeper's Curse" then attack directly (Jaden 3900 → 1900 → 600). The

Chief then activates "Royal Tribute" to force both players to discard all monsters in their hands. Jaden discards "Elemental Hero Sparkman", "Elemental Hero Clayman" and "Elemental Hero Necroshade", while the Chief discards nothing.

Jaden draws "Elemental Hero Bladedge". He then uses the effect of "Elemental Hero Necroshade" from his Graveyard in order to Normal Summon "Elemental Hero Bladedge" (2600/1800) in Attack Position without Tributing. "Bladedge" attacks and destroys "Gravekeeper's Curse" (Chief 900 → 0).

The Chief let the prisoners go and then give Jaden half of the shadow charm that he would us against the shadow riders. Then they are all transported back to the ruins. He saw the gang pasted out but he saw Alexis resting her head on her shoulders and he said to himself 'I will win your heart Alexis because I love you.' He then kissed her but she was still pasted out to know so it would be his little secret. But he knew that the next little get together with Alexis will be more fun then ever before.
