Rebecca's POV

-

I wake up to the sound of something slamming to the ground downstairs and someone screaming. I slowly climb out of bed and around the corner of the hallway, trying to make as little noise as possible.

"You dumb fucking bitch!" Daddy yells. Oh no, he's home, and angry. I slowly peek around the corner and down the stairs. Mommy is pressed up against the wall and he hits her. Tears fall down her cheeks and she whimpers. He hits her again, and again.

"Stop!" I scream. He turns around and glares at me. "Run baby, run," Mommy cries and I try to run as fast as I can up the stairs.

"Get back here you little shit!" He yells from close behind me. He catches me about half way up the staircase and grabs my leg.

"Get off of me!" I scream and I luckily escape from his grasp. I dash to my room and slam the door shut behind me, locking it.

"Let me in!" He yells as he repeatedly slams his fists on the door. All of a sudden, he stops. What? Then, he starts kicking the door. I scream and back up against the wall, sitting down and putting my head between my knees; desperately wishing that I could just disappear into the walls.

"Stop! Stop it!" I scream as my sobs grow louder.

Sam's POV

-

I wake up in the middle of the night by small sounds coming from where Rebecca is asleep. At first, I think nothing of it until the noises start getting louder. Shit, she's having the nightmares again.

"Stop it!" She screams and I run into her room. "Please, no," she whimpers and I hear Colby rushing in from the other room. "What's going on?" He asks worriedly.

"It's okay just stay right there," I say as I try to wake her.

"Becca, wake up, its okay," I say as I lightly shake her but she doesn't wake up. "Rebecca," I say louder as I shake her harder. Her eyes snap open and the look of pure fear spreads across her face.

"Becca, it's me. It's okay, you're safe," I say and relief washes over her as I pull her into my arms. "Sam," she cries and I hold her tighter.

"Shh, it's okay, he's not here, you're okay," I tell her softly. "Colby can you bring me some water," I ask. "Yeah sure," he responds as he exits the room.

"You okay?" I ask and she looks up at me and nods. Her eyes are bloodshot and her face is pale. "I'm so sorry Rebecca," I whisper sadly as I wipe the tears from her cheeks. Colby returns with the glass of water and I thank him.

"Can you give us a minute?" I ask him and he nods, "yeah, I'll be in the living room," he says as he leaves and shuts the door behind him. I hand her the glass of water and she stares at it for a second before taking a small sip of it.

"Thanks," she says quietly, not looking up at me. I put my finger under her chin and lift her head up so her eyes meet mine.

"You sure you're okay?" I question and she nods lightly.

"I'm sorry for waking you," she says hardly above a whisper.

"Don't worry about it, it's okay," I reassure her and she looks back down again.

"I thought you stopped having the dreams?" I ask.

"Rarely, I haven't in a few weeks," she says.

"It's my fault, I shouldn't have brought him up," I say shaking my head. "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize. It's not your fault it's his," she says, muttering the last part.

"You should probably get some rest," I say as I start to get up but she grabs my arm.

"Can you stay in here with me?" She says looking up at me and I nod.

"Of course, I'll be right back," I say and go out of the room for a second.

"Is she okay?" Colby asks concerned.

"Yeah, she's okay," I reply running my hands through me hair.

"What happened?" He questions and I sigh.

"If she's ready, we'll talk about it tomorrow but it's not my place to say," I shrug and he nods. "We should probably get some sleep," I tell him and he nods again before heading to his room.

"I'm back," I say quietly. "Do you want the light on or off?"

"Off," she says and I flip off the light switch and walk over to the bed.

"What did you tell him?" She asks as I climb in beside her.

"Nothing, I told him we would talk about it when you're ready," I tell her.

"Thank you," she says and I wrap my arms around her.

"No problem, now you should probably get some sleep," I tell her and she cuddles up to me, laying her head on my chest.

"Goodnight," I tell her. "Goodnight."

"I love you Sam," she whispers and I smile.

"I love you too Becca," I say into her hair and I feel myself drifting off to sleep.
