Rebecca's POV
-
When I walk into the apartment, I am relieved to see Sam sitting down on the couch, eating popcorn.
"Hey Sammy," I tell him as I hang Colby's keys up by the door.
"Hey," he replies as he stuffs his face with popcorn. "Where have you been?"
"Groceries," I tell him, lifting up the bags in my hands and he nods. I take them into the kitchen, putting everything in its place before joining Sam on the couch.
"Whatcha watching?" I ask as I grab a handful of popcorn.
"I dunno, some random documentary about penguins," he shrugs.
"Why?" I ask with a slight laugh and he just shrugs again.
"I don't really know to be honest, it's just the first thing I found," he tells me and I don't question him further as I turn my attention to the penguins. I could use a distraction.
About an hour or so later, Colby walks through the door.
"Hey guys," he says as he makes his way to the couch.
"Hey," I smile up at him and he sits down beside me. He throws his arm over my shoulder and places a kiss on my forehead.
"How was your day?" I ask him and he smiles as he tells me about going to the Grove with Brennen and saying how we need to go there together some day.
"What did you while I was gone?" He asks.
"Oh, I just went and got groceries," I say, not telling him about the man. It's probably not even a big deal, why am I still worrying about it?
We continue watching whatever's on tv while I find myself drifting away in my thoughts. I know I shouldn't be dwelling on this, I don't know why I am in the first place. Something about that guy just gives me a really bad feeling and I would give anything to know why. Colby must notice my stress as he turns to look at me.
"Are you okay, baby?" He asks, concerned. I just nod and flash him a fake smile which he doesn't really seem to buy but he doesn't question me any further. After a few minutes of driving myself crazy thinking about that guy, I finally just get up from the couch and head into the bedroom without telling them where I'm going. I groan as I throw myself down on the bed, face first.
Moments later, I hear the door softly open and close and a dip in the bed followed by a hand being placed on my back.
"What's wrong?" Colby asks as he rubs circles on my back and I let out a heavy sigh before flipping over onto my back.
"I just, I don't know- it doesn't make any sense," I try but fail to explain and he furrows his eyebrows.
"What is it?" He asks as his eyes search mine for an explanation.
"It's nothing," I reply solemnly.
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. It's just seems like whatever has been on your mind has been stressing you out," he tells me and I nod.
"Yeah, I don't know why though, it's just kinda pointless," I sigh and he looks me in the eye.
"Why?" He asks and I take a deep breath.
"Well, this might sound odd, but while I was getting groceries today there was this guy," I begin and his eyebrows furrow as I continue. "I've never seen this guy before but something just felt off about him. Like, I just felt like he was watching me and he just gave me a really bad vibe," I tell him and he nods, signaling for me to go on. "And I know I'm usually someone who just thinks too much of things but I don't know this time Colby, something just feels wrong."
"Baby girl, I'm sure it's nothing. Just try not to worry about it okay? I promise I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you," he tells and I smile at him and nod.
"God, I love you so much," I tell him as I can feel myself getting lost in his crystal eyes.
"I love you too Becca," he tells me as he pulls me into his bare chest. He turns of the lamp on the nightstand and I move as close to him as possible, our legs tangling together.
"Goodnight baby," he whispers and I place a kiss on his collar bone.
"Goodnight Colbs," I whisper in response.
Just as I feel myself drifting off to sleep I hear Colby whisper something barely audible.
"I am permanently in love with you, always and forever."
