*Thorin's POV*
I watch over Molly for the next few hours. Her whimper's now turning into screams. I hold onto her shoulder where she can't flail and hurt herself more.
"Can we not help her?" Fili asks with a shaky voice.
"With what?" Asks Bofur "We have no medicine."
I look down at Molly who's face is bright red from her screams and lack of air. "M-m-m-my skin is o-on fire!" she chokes out. I look at her distressed face filled with fear as she closes her eyes. Looking within myself, for once on this journey I feel a twinge of fear. Not for myself or the others, but for Molly. I've seen death in many others' eyes, and I never want to see it in here.
Slowly but surely Molly stills and I feel her muscles relax. Groggily she mutters "I'm sorry...I'm sorry..."
Lifting her up I cradle her in my arms. I sink against the rock and lift her holding her against my chest. Holding her face I can see the blood coming from her ears as the poison spreads more throughout her body. "You will live. You have to live, Molly. Please, just hold on a little longer."*Molly's POV*
I wake up once more after falling into a restless sleep. The pain is still great but bearable at the moment. I'm so weak even if I wanted to cry out I have no strength. Still, in my dream like rest, I hear voices and hear the girl Elf from earlier. I hear her talking with Kili. A mention of a rock and a promise he made his mother come back.
"She thinks I'm reckless." Kili says "Do you think I'm reckless?" he asks her.
They continue to talk and then their conversation fades to me but then I hear more "Please, I know the orders only go through your King, but please, my friend, she is dying. Just please, help her."
As the air grows silent I know she's gone and Kilis plead had no payoff.
I open my eyes and look up seeing Thorin's sleeping face. I realize I'm laying against Thorin's chest as he cradles me in his lap. His head tilts down as he sleeps against the rock wall but still doesn't stir.
In the compromising position, I try to muster the strength to get off his lap, but the moment I groan in pain Thorin awakes. Quick these arms squeeze around me holding me to him.
"M-Molly...it's alright. I got you."
I blink up at him surprised and in some way excited by his gentleness and care. Especially showing it for me.
"I just-...I'm a-I'm a big girl." I snort "Am I not breaking your legs?"
Thorin leans back with a content sigh "Bigger the woman the bigger the blessings. Besides, you're keeping me warm. Bloody freezing in here."
Flattered I blush to try to hide my smile "A blessing, huh? I'm not so sure about that."
As I stifle a laugh the pain in my leg runs through my body again and every muscle tenses. Before I can grip my leg Thorin stops me "Your alright...." he breathes.
I shake my head "I-I'm not...."
He nods "Yes you are. We're going to get out of here and then we're going to find Gandalf and get you help."
Taking hold of his hand I look up at him "When you get the chance to escape you take it and leave me here. If you don't hurry you'll never make it to the mountain."Thorin narrows his eyes whilst shaking his head "That isn't happening."
"Yes, you are, and you knew you were going to have to."
Thorin falls silent and I reach down pulling the necklace from the fallen star I received from Rivendell. I open Thorin's hand and place it on his palm. I close it around it and nod "For good luck."
He stares at the necklace admiring it and then up to me. I sadly smirk "You need to get to the mountain. You can't carry me there and I'll be dead before the sun rises.""Molly-"
"Promise me." I say interrupting him. Tears brim in my eyes seeing my family and their faces.
"Promise that-that if there's some way for my family to know..."
Thorin, almost panicked, shakes his head "No, don't talk like that. Be strong. Do not give up."
