Chapter 19

━━━━━━━━━

The week went fast. I stayed at the hospital every night, and almost all day if I could. I was perpetually at Chase's side, never wanting to leave him for even a second. Adam or Leo always took over my watch when I had to go home to change. But then Friday came, exactly a week since everything went down, and Chase was able to come home. Davenport let me use the car to go pick him up, as long as I brought him straight home.

I walked calmly into the waiting room to see Chase was now fully dressed in his old clothes that I had brought over for him yesterday. It only kind of amazed me that they still fit. Chase had gone through a growth spirt before he had left, which was about as tall as he was now. I smiled happily as I ran over to him. He laughed and brought his right arm to wrap around me, holding me close for the first time in a week. His left arm was held up in a sling while the bandage was still covering up the wound. The doctor smiled and gave Chase a prescription paper for some kind of pain killers that would help him get better. He was still in a lot of pain, which I'm surprised he's been able to handle without as much whining as I would have. We thanked her before I led Chase out to the parking lot.

"Now we can stop living at the hospital." Chase teased as he held my hand tightly. I laughed and nodded before we walked out of the emergency end of the hospital. The sun was shinning brightly as we reached the outside. I smiled, knowing everything was already falling into place. Chase smiled slyly as I brought him to the car. He smiled and placed his hand on my hip as he let me lean back against the car. I smiled as I let my hands rest on his chest, loving that we could be like this. Davenport had changed our records so it looked as though I had been adopted. No one but the six of us would know the truth.

"We need to go out on a date or something." Chase whispered as he leaned down to my level. I nodded happily before he closed the gap between us. I smiled into the kiss as I pulled him closer. He wrapped his arm tighter around my waist as we stood flush against each other. I pulled away slowly, letting my forehead rest against his.

"Should we have our first date at the pharmacy? We need to get your medicine." I asked sarcastically as I walked around to the other side of the car. Chase laughed as he got into the car and shut the door.

"That sounds romantic." He replied, sounding completely serious. I rolled my eyes at my now boyfriend of a week and a day.

"Good. Cause that's where we're going. Do you want to call Davenport and tell him that we're going there first?" I asked. Chase nodded before I handed my new phone over to him. Davenport had planned to give Chase his own once he got home later today.

"Who's number one on speed dial?" Chase asked teasingly as he hit Davenport's number and waited for the answer of our father.

"You." I replied as I drove out of the parking lot of the hospital. Chase smiled widely before he began to speak with Davenport.

"Yeah... I'm free... Bree and I are going to the pharmacy to get my pain killers... Well we'll be there in like twenty minutes... that's only kind of illegal to my knowledge... Okay... Bye." Chase said before he hung up the phone. I laughed as he set the phone down on the tray between us.

"What do you mean by only kind of illegal?" I asked warily. Knowing Davenport it could be anything. He did have the willpower to make three bionic kids... Along with Douglas. But that's besides the fact. Chase smiled as I pulled into the pharmacy.
