IV-Lies

I started chatting with Charles more regularly. During that time, I discovered that he wasn't gay and that he was just trying to break my heart and make me realize that Jane was manipulating me. I already suspected that he wasn't really gay, but the reason was a surprise. We continued chatting and then he asked me a question, that in my opinion, started a horrible butterfly effect.
C: Can I ask you a question?
D: Sure, what do you want to know?
C: Do you love Jane?
D: Hahahahaha. Me!? Loving Jane!? She's my best friend, but nothing else.
C: Ok. Did you know that I'm trying to forget Mary?
D: Really!?
C: Yeah...but I'm interested in someone else.
"Ok, first he tells me that he forgot Mary and then that he loves someone else? He wants to give me a heart attack, doesn't he?"
D: And may I know who that person is?
C: It's Jane.
"What!? He's in love with my best friend? Maybe he's lying. Wait, if he tells her that he loves her will she break his heart?"
D: Why don't you tell her?
C: Because I don't want to, and she doesn't love me.
D: If you don't do it, I'll do it.
C: What!?
D: Tell her, or I'll tell her that you love her. I'm sure that she won't do anything that hurts you.
Actually, I though that a rejection would make him be super sad and look for support, and of course, I would be there for him.
C: I won't tell her! You are blackmailing me! You're a monster!
D: I'm not! I'm trying to help you.
C:No you're not! You're trying to help yourself! I'm going to tell her the monster that you are.
Shit. I didn't mean to make him feel that way...Maybe I did fuck up...Now he would make Jane be mad at me...But not if I got to her first.
D: Can you help me on something? I was almost forgetting Charles, but then he asked me if a loved a certain person and he said that he loved that same person. Then I think that I fell for him again and I started pretending that I wanted them to be together, only for the girl to break his heart. But I ended up blackmailing him and he called me a monster.
J: He asked you if you loved me. I asked him. Not because I don't trust you but he was sure that you loved me.
Then, she showed me a screenshot of their texts and there were lots of things that triggered me. First, he said that I was evil, then, he said that if I really loved him I would never give him that letter and he even said that I didn't gave him three months to forget, not to think about our situation.
Four days later, he told me that he didn't love Jane anymore and then, I had an idea. I would pretend I was Mary to know more things about him, and maybe push him to me. But as always, things got out of track.
