I shoved everything in my duffle, zipping it up and tossing it down the stairs, grabbing all my stuff and putting it in my car, finally going back inside to grab my keys.

"Where are you going!?" Tyson, Matt and Gabe all asked blocking the door.

"Away from here, away from Colorado I'm done." I stated, running my hand through my hair. "Let me leave!"

"No, you're not leaving Colorado. You're not leaving this house." Matt stated.

"There is nothing for me here, I'm moving. New places, new faces. Everything I wanted here is gone." I replied, grabbing my jacket. "Everything I love is here, and I can't do it anymore."

"What do you mean by that?" Gabe growled.

"You deserve better Gabriel, not me. I'm not the one, I won't ever be what you need." I whispered, pushing through the door.

Confusion crossed his face and he yanked me back, his eyes were ice blue and his words killed me.

"Raiyne, I love you. You can't just go." He whispered.

"Gabriel, please." I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.

"No, Raiyne you have to stay here. We need you, I need you." He pleaded.

"I don't want you, I can't be with you Gabriel, I can't take the guessing game anymore. I don't want you." I blurted, my heart shattering with every word.

Gabe POV

"I don't want you." Raiyne said, and I could see her eyes fill up with tears before she spun and ran for her car.

My heart pounded and then shattered, and suddenly I couldn't breathe, like my world had flipped upside down, everything I lived for and loved pulling out of the driveway.

"Gabe." Matt started.

"Don't talk to me." I growled, sitting on the step and running my hands over my face. "She left Matt, I didn't think she would ever leave."

"You didn't do anything wrong." He said.

"Man, it's her fault." Tyson agreed.

I just shook my head and stood up, "But she isn't coming back, and I could have tried so much harder."

I locked my door behind me, then spun and slashed everything off the dresser sending everything into a shattering mess. The photos that she had gave me broke, and my phone slammed into the wall.

I needed her, Raiyne was the only one I had ever fallen so hard for. The only one that was capable of tearing me to shreds, I couldn't handle it.

Opening Day

It was ironic, for some reason I always thought I would catch Raiyne from the corner of my eye. Hear her voice behind me, her laugh somewhere in a crowd. I always felt like she was close, but always out of reach.

"Landy you ready!?" Matt yelled, smacking my helmet.

"Let's go." I yelled, as enthusiastic as I could although inside I felt like I was dying.

"Wait guys." Carmin puffed, jogging into the room.

"Eh?" Tyson asked.

"I have a message." She huffed.

"Spit it out." Matt laughed.

She stood straight, smirked and spoke "Kick ass boys, tonight's the night don't let me down." She sounded just like Raiyne, the smirk topping it off.

"Let's goo!" The guys yelled.

I smirked and walked through the door and she pulled on my wrist, "You can do it."

"Thanks Car." I replied, then she smack my shoulder.

"Go get em Landy."

Raiyne POV

I rushed from Bass Pro Shop and into my car, changing into my jersey as I pulled out. I hadn't moved completely out of Denver, just somewhere they wouldn't try and find me, but I made it to every game, sporting the same jersey.

I prayed he was doing ok, I hoped with everything I had that he was doing better than me. The only thing right now that was keeping me alive was the games, the fact that I got to see my favourite people doing what they loved even if it meant my heart being ripped out of my chest.

I found my seat like always, keeping my hat over my eyes as I watched the guys come out to warm up, taking my phone from my pocket and texting Carmin. Looking up as people began to pass on the ice.

For a split second my eyes connected with Matt's and a look of realization seemed to hit him as he stopped and I shook my head at him, Tyson and Ryan running into him, their lips moving then the started warming up again and I took a deep breath. I searched for Gabe, catching him shooting into the net, his eyes were black, his hair was shaggy and he hadn't shaved, a sharp pain stabbing me in the chest as Matt said something and his lips tilted into a smile.

Me

-carmin, fix him. It kills me to see him like this, I miss him. I miss all of them and you, fix him make him feel better

I blinked a few times and tucked my hands into my pockets, pulling my hat lower as a puck slammed into the boards, and my eyes flew up. I saw Matt shake his head, point his stick at me and laugh, I flipped him the finger and then ducked completely as Gabe looked my way.

Gabe POV

Matt pointed at something and I skated over, stopping sharply.

"What's up?" I asked and he nodded towards the seats, an empty one sat on the other side of the boards. "An empty seat?"

"No she was just there." Matt mumbled, confusion on his face.

"She's not coming back Matt, focus." I growled, my heart jumping.

We won, and I pumped my hands in the air, staying on the ice as the arena emptied out. Finally I walked down the hall, a shadow at the other end.

"Way to go handsome." She whispered, her soft voice floating down the tunnel.

"Raiyne?" I asked, my voice cracking.

Then she disappeared, the shadow gone, the voice replaying in my head.

Raiyne POV

That's all I needed, I just had to hear him, something to cling to for support, a reason not to go home and slash my arms open. His shadow filled the end of the tunnel and then I stepped away, praying he wouldn't come for me as I ran out the door and slipped the note under his wiper blade and drove away.
