I crashed through the sliding doors of the hospital, then down the emergency hall, dodging nurses and doctors as I tore through anything that came in my path.
"Where is she?" I growled, grabbing her doctor by the front of his shirt. "Where the hell is Carmin, tell me now before I put you through a wall."
"She isn't allowed to have visitors right now Miss Spears." He replied, and I saw red.
Matt POV
I ran after Raiyne and she struggled to open the car door, tossing the key at me hard as she took off down the street at full tilt.
"Where the fuck is she going?" Gabe gasped, grabbing his key and shoving it into the door.
"I dunno, but I'll meet you there." I yelled, taking off after her.
--
Raiyne had a doctor by the shirt, halfway up the wall as her lips moved with deathly threats, I could tell by the way he paled.
"Raiyne let him go." I said calmly.
"He won't tell me where she is." Raiyne growled.
"She can't-"
He jerked as she slammed him into the wall, "Wanna try again." She snapped.
"Raiyne, let go." I replied, uncurling her fingers and grabbing her to pull her away.
She pushed me away and then stormed down the hall, slamming a door as she left.
"I'm sorry, things haven't been smooth sailing lately." I explained.
"I understand, I'm just happy she didn't kill me." The doctor laughed.
Raiyne POV
I left and walked outside, slamming my hand into the post out front as I sank down onto the curb, putting my face in my hands and allowing the sobs to shake my body.
I felt a hand on my back and I sobbed harder, "She has to be ok!" I exclaimed. "She can't be hurt."
"Baby, she's gonna be fine." Gabe whispered and I leaned into him.
"They won't let me see her." I whimpered. "Car fire, she ran into a pole and the electricity...."
He wrapped both arms around me and lifted, walking inside by the swoosh of the automatic doors, and into the waiting room where he sat down.
"Raiyne." Matt whispered and I cringed.
"She has to be ok, she just has to." I sobbed.
--
I sat in a chair by myself, my legs pulled up to my chest. The crying had stopped, and now all that replaced it was the anxious pounding of my heart as the doctor walked up.
"Raiyne Spears, Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog?" He asked and my head snapped up.
"We can go and see her? Where is she?" I growled, standing abruptly.
"There is actually something important I have to tell you, please sit down."
My hands balled into fists and I sat on the edge of the chair, "Talk now." I stated, glaring at him.
"As you may know, Carmin got into an accident, the car careened into a pole and the car caught fire, she was brought here automatically and was rushed into emerge, we kept her for observation, and I'm sorry to tell you that all her vital signs did not respond, we lost her almost immediately." The doctor explained.
I couldn't think, the blood rushed in my ears, and my hands shook, my breathing ragged.
"Raiyne." Gabe whispered.
"Don't talk to me! You didn't even try! You could have saved her!" I yelled, my hands flying through my hair angrily. "She was twenty one! I just talked to her! She can't be gone!"
I stood and took an angry step forward towards the doctor before someone caught me around the waist. Without thinking I shoved as hard as I could.
"I hate you." I growled, shouldering through the doors that moved too slow as I began to run.
--
It was dark, the stadium completely empty as I smashed puck after puck after puck into the net, finally taking my stick like a baseball bat and swinging as hard as I could at the boards, my stick shattering into five pieces as I sank down to the ice.
"She can't be gone, she's my best friend." I whispered, not being able to breath as everything tore through my body at once.
Gabe POV
"Where is Raiyne!?" Matt yelled, tossing his phone at the wall as Erik explained how she called and told him she needed space.
"Arena." I stated, suddenly feeling stupid for not thinking of it sooner.
--
Raiyne sat with her broken stick in her hand, pressing the tip of it to her wrist as her shoulders shook with sobs she was trying her best to hide.
"Raiyne, don't do it." I stated, stepping onto the ice. "Please babe, it's going to be ok."
"It hurts. I want it to go away." She replied, her voice emotionless throwing me back to when she left.
"You don't have to do it that way." I replied. "You have so many people to talk to."
"Gabriel, she's gone. There is no reason for me to be here anymore, she was my everything. I loved her with everything I had, I wouldn't be here without her." She said, pressing harder allowing the wood to slice her skin, the crimson line of blood seeping down and onto the ice and I wanted with everything in me to protect her from herself.
"Give me the stick." I told her.
"No."
"Fine then give me your skate." I replied.
"Why?"
"Because if I can't stop you than I should join you right? Everytime you cut yourself, I'll cut too." I blurted.
"No. I refuse to allow you to do that." She growled.
"Why?"
"Because I can't let you hurt yourself for something that I did." She explained.
"Then why are you doing it? You are hurting me Raiyne, because I want to be here for you and your resulting to cutting your skin open like paper." I told her. "I can't see you hurt when I know I can help."
She looked at the four angry lines she had carved into her pale skin, the bold red running down her arm as she tossed the stick towards the net.
"Help me, I don't want to hurt like this anymore." She whimpered.
