Angela
My fingers froze and became stiff as I stuffed them into my coat pockets to protect them from the cold weather and I hurriedly walked towards my Mother's door before painfully knocking on the blue wood.
"Angie!" Grayson calls behind me, the car window rolled down as he sits in the back seat, the driver patiently waiting as I watch as Grayson's smirk grows and my stomach does multiple flips before he opens his lips to speak. "Text me when you're ready to leave, I'll come and pick you up."
"Ok." I nod, trying to lesson my goofy grin as I remove a hand from my pocket to wave to him and the car drives towards the traffic lights to join the long que and I stifle a giggle knowing that Grayson will get agitated at the long wait ahead.
The opening of the blue door draws me away from my bubble and I excitedly smile as my Mother's face comes into view.
"Hi Mum!" I squeal as I outstretch my arms towards her and she pulls me towards her, the familiar scent of her perfume rising through my nose and I instantly missed Grayson.
"Angela, I didn't even know you were coming today!" She exclaims as she turns around to walk into the house and I follow her before closing the door behind me as I wipe my feet on the mat. "The house is a mess!"
It wasn't. It was immaculate. Almost looking the same since I had moved out however I noticed different ornaments and more picture were placed upon the walls.
My Mothers feet were covered with her pink slipper boots as she shuffled around the island in the kitchen, taking off her red spotted apron and hangs it upon the back of the door. I noticed the black top in which she was wearing was one that I had bought her for Christmas, three years ago. It was a designer to which she clung onto.
"What have a missed?" I ask, eager to find out about my High School friends' lives and my Mother's dating life, however I receive a scoff from my her before she takes a sip of her green tea.
"Everything's practically the same, you haven't been gone that long have you?" She asks in horror before she turns to face her calender, 2013 showing in big bold letters although it was 2016. "Maybe you have been, but go on you tell me what you've been doing, how's that boss of yours? Elena?" Mother turns back to face me, her eyes seem dull as she gives me a warm smile.
"Eleanor." I correct her as I try not to gag as I speak the name. "All I can say is she is a bitch." I joke and my Mother winces at my swearing to which I apologise. "But I'll survive, I hope."
"Oh, is she here for London Fashion Week?" She asks, intriged my bitch of a boss.
"Yes, she is with her step daughter, Scarlett." I force a smile and I hadn't even realised how vile it was that Grayson had slept with them both, however I mentally pinch myself, knowing I shouldn't judge him for his past.
"Oh and she's your friend?" As the word tumble from her mouth, my eyes widen and I pull a disgusted face before gulping my tea down, the heat scorching my throat. "I guess not...Adrian?" She says in hope, knowing Adrian and I had drifted apart after being together for a year.
"Nope, he's gone. I think he went to Austrailia with his new girlfriend." I fill her in. Although my Mother was a friendly, socialable person only had one friend, my Dad. "The girl with red hair, small, tattoos?"
"Oh yes I remember, Scottish. Could never understand a word she said!" I laugh at the memory of my Mother asking poor Joan to repeat herself more than three times. "And what about this man I've been seeing you with all over the papers!" She exclaims in excitement, a splash of tea falling out of her cup as she waves her hands around.
