Angela
I felt humiliated as emerged from the bedroom. I prayed that Grayson had left, I couldn't face him again without resisting the urge to scream at him or hysterically cry like a child.
"It's ok, it's only me." Christina called out from the couch, her voice sounding small and delicate as she spoke. "They left before, they're going to get a flight back to New York."
Lightly nodding my head, I walked to the kitchen area and my hands pick up the brown bag that contained the morning after pill. My fingers shook as I attempted to open the box however, Christina approaches me from behind as my hips lean into the desktop and she takes the box from me.
"I'll do it for you." She tells me, her red nails opening the box as she stands beside me. "Here."
A white pill falls from her fingers and it falls onto my flat palm before I throw it to the back of my tongue as Christina reaches for the wine glass that sat by the and filled it with water. I couldn't help but realise how visible her bump looked as she moved around, I don't know why I hadn't noticed it before. Was I that selfish and that involved with Grayson that I hadn't noticed my best friend was pregnant and badly arguing with her fiancée?
"Why didn't you tell me?" I manage to say as I gulp the water, the pill being swallowed along with the liquid before I set it in the sink.
"There was never the right time to tell you." Christina shrugs as though it was unimportant. "I didn't want to get in the way of everything happening with you."
Her fingers nervously fiddle with the large diamond on her finger as her hands rest on her stomach. I know she will be a good Mother and Ethan a Father, I hope in the future they will work things out.
"There's never a right time for anything." She points out before she leans against the counter, her eyes looking down at her stomach. "Her name is Evelyn."
My face instantly breaks out into a grin as I look at her stomach, her baby growing inside.
"I can imagine her looking exactly like you." I say honestly, imagining Christina and Ethan with a little girl with blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Yeah.." She nods along as I speak about her unborn child and the future she has ahead of her. "The wedding is still off though."
"That's ok, but do you still want to marry him?" I ask, my finger tapping on the counter as we both engage in the conversation, my face feeling dry from the tears before however I am glad I am able to rid my mind of him.
"Of course, I want to marry him." Christina sighs with exhaustion as though she has been waiting to spill her mind to someone for months. I felt guilty imagining her bottling everything up, not having anyone to talk to. "I've always wanted to marry him since High School, but things get in the way and the guilt I felt about the whole money thing was getting too much. I couldn't support you both, as much as I wanted to, I just couldn't."
"I'm sorry this all happened. I wish things were differ-"
"Don't apologise. It's fine, you're not the one who is in the wrong." Christina forces a smile before pushing herself off the counter, her hand reaches my hand and her eyes look directly at my face. "I'm sorry this had to happen to you, Ange. If I would have known how it would end, I would have warned you."
Taking in a large breathe of air I nod as she speaks before her lips move towards my face to place a kiss upon my cheek, her hand squeezing my own. She smelt like she always did however the familiar smell had a slight absence as though a more masculine scent had lifted and no longer followed her.
