I slipped inside the house, my breathing ragged and my heart pounding dangerously in my chest. Yuma was hot on my tail, his pattering footsteps making my ears twitch like a cat's. I flinched when I heard a man scream in agony, and a girly cry ring out in the otherwise quiet mansion. My entrance corridor was littered with shattered glass, broken vases, torn cloth, and empty bullet shells.
"Hey Yuma," I whispered behind me, "where the hell do you think everyone is? It's dead silent."
I walked up to a wall and peered around it, noticing multiple unconscious men tied to my dining room chairs. Yuma peered over the top of my head and frowned. "Those aren't your butlers. Are those the bad guys?" I nodded and looked into the dining room, my tablecloth ripped to shreds, the room covered in splinters of wood, and one of my maids hiding in the chimney of the fireplace, her hair flowing into the firebox.
I jogged over to the fireplace and looked up the chimney. Eun-Sae held a knife to my face before heaving a sigh of relief. "I didn't think you'd arrive so quickly. Most of the butlers and maids have knocked those fuckers out."
I helped her down and brushed off her dress. "Where are most of the housekeepers? " Clipping my gun once again on my back holster, I handed Eun-Sae a pistol.
"Spread out through the house. Although, I've heard lots of screaming, yelling, and gunshots in the back entrance staircase and in the bamboo forest."
I heaved a sigh and grabbed Eun-Sae's hand. "We have to go through each part of the house and find all the housekeepers, then we can go through the forest together. It would be suicide to go out there by ourselves. Yuma, keep an eye on our backs," the radio buzzed as I press the speak button, "hey guys, go through the house and find as many butlers and maids as you can find without bringing too much attention to yourself, got it? Regroup at the back entrance staircase in twenty."
The radio sputtered static before allowing a chorus of yeses to come through.
I unclipped another pistol and slid out the dining room door, going down different doorways and peering into rooms. One door was locked and I carefully and quietly unlocked it, the weaponry room looking completely empty. All the guns, knives, ammo, and bombs were gone, making me panic. "Did you guys clear out all the weapons?"
Eun-Sae nodded when I turned around. I found one room full of guns pointed out me and my eyes widened. Oh, shit. I stayed still and rose my hands the air.
Within seconds every gun was lowered and hushed whispers of glee filled my ears. "Aki," a voice full of relief rang in my ears. Maria stepped up and encompassed me in her arms.
"I was so worried. I thought you'd never come soon enough." I hugged her back tightly and she pressed a kiss to my forehead. "I love you so much. You're my precious baby, I thought I'd never be able to see you again."
I pulled away. "What do you mean?"
"I was the first to get ambushed. I was the target, if it wasn't for Anastasia and Alexandria I would have never made it. They're both safe and underground."
The other housekeepers sighed in relief and Yuma stepped up. "We have to eliminate all of these gangsters, its the only way to get to Ootori. Once we find Ootori we capture him and hand him over to the FBI."
My eyes narrowed. "I want to kill him, not hand him over to someone else so he can be released." Anger piled up in my voice.
"Annette," Eun-Sae started, "as much as he's done I highly doubt he'd get out alive. Have you seen all the stuff that's piled on his list of criminal acts? The FBI have been trying to find a valid excuse to kill him for years. Once this is leaked, he's done for."
