"Mama!" A voice echoed in the house, coming from what I presumed to be upstairs.
The house beforehand was deathly silent, a usual for early weekday mornings. The children were generally deep asleep until an hour before they left for school. This morning they seemed a bit quiet for only thirty minutes left.
I paused the movie I was watching with a roll of my eyes and looked up from the tablet resting on my lap. The screen turned black as I shut it off.
Through the doorway of the living room, I could see into the foyer, where my eldest son stumbled down the staircase in his Ouran uniform, his tie flying over his shoulder like a flag. He paused at the bottom of the grand staircase with his face flushed with what could only be fury and embarrassment.
"What has you so excitable?" I questioned, crossing my arms as the iPad in my lap slipped down my pajama clad leg.
He huffed and bent over, his hands resting on his knees, "SPA is at it again!"
"SPA? The celebrity gossip tabloid?" I raised an eyebrow.
He tossed his head up and ran a hand through his short, black hair, making it stand up on end even further. He followed the action with a curt nod.
"Josephine!" He bellowed, his deep voice echoing through the large house. "Show mum the magazine!" He fixed me with a hard stare from the foyer.
I stood, pressing down the large wrinkled sweater that I stole from Takashi's dresser, and put on my house slippers. I was about to search for Josephine in the kitchen but stopped when she slowly rose from behind the couch, her attention not on me.
She didn't look away from the glossy, brightly coloured magazine in her hands, the white logo on front read SPA. I snickered in amusement at the twins' antics.
"Morinozuka Yuuto, eldest son of the head of the Suoh Conglomerate: Morinozuka Aki and the owner of the Morinozuka Dojo: Morinozuka Takashi, was," Josephine cut off, her face scrunching up in disgust.
"You would think after writing all the shit they do daily they could at least not use run on sentences and word vomit."
She scoffed before reading more, "he was caught outside an internet cafe with Japan's most popular teen actor, Yamazaki Keito, hugging and getting extremely close for what many would think of them to be friends. The two have been spotted around many dating spots for the past two and a half weeks and fans of the model-turned-actor are beginning to speculate if they're dating."
She finally glanced up at me, her rich purple eyes glistening in mirth. "First the Prime Minister's daughter and now the hottest actor of Japan? One would presume he's a good-for-nothing playboy," her stoic expression returned as she spoke, tucking a strand of long black hair behind her ear, "a shame. I thought my eldest brother would have been better raised."
Yuuto stalked up to the doorway and peered at Josephine with a dark glare, his lips pursed. The look matching Kyouya's usual angry glare when something doesn't go his way.
I raised an eyebrow once more, and placed my hands on my hips, "are you insulting me now?" A wicked grin stretched across my face, a punishment coming to mind, "I can take away your Ninja H2R."
Her eye twitched as she stared at me, obviously regretting her words, "it was simply an insult to his behaviour, mother." Josphine lied. She folded the magazine and checked her watch. She was unaware that Yuuto was looming behind her, ready to tackle her to the ground until the very last moment. When he came within distance, she backhanded him across the face with the magazine, his body hitting the large marble fireplace behind them with a thud.
