~**~

This was supposed to be a day of celebration, a day where the pack comes together and celebrates the first shift of their next Alpha. This celebration should have come years ago, when their real alpha shifted.

My father is walking around, beaming. He speaks to the visiting Alphas with pride in his voice about his strong son who will one day lead this glorious pack. His son, my brother, walks around with a puffed out chest and perfect posture. He's trying to convince of the pack and the visitors of something that he is not. Only our family knows that he is nothing compared to the true future Alpha. He is nothing compared to me.

My broken mother follows behind the men, not saying a word to anyone. The pack is used to their silent Luna. I'm shocked she came out today, she never does. She hides up in her and my father's room, forever shattered because of the actions of her mate.

I sit in the corner of the event watching as this happens, as my father and brother play this charade. But there is nothing I can say. Changing some one's perspective is difficult. Changing the perspective of a whole pack is nearly impossible.

"Lux," my brother greets me. His voice much deeper than it was when he was only a young boy. Our relationship, though stable, is always tense. My brother is training to be the next Alpha and like any Alpha male, if he gets threatened he will do everything in his power to prove he is not lesser than anyone. But that's the thing, he isn't an Alpha male. He is born of Alpha blood and is stronger than most regular wolves but he will never be stronger than the first born, me. He is threatened by me and he knows that any point I can destroy him. But of course, our father would never allow that to happen.

"Isaac." I greet him.

"Are you not participating in the festivities? Not even for your little brother?" He teases me. He is not like everyone else in this pack, he does not treat me like an omega. He respects me as is older sister, as the daughter of the Alpha.

I respect him in much of the same way. He is my little brother and I would die to protect him. Much of our childhood we spent together, until my father would shoo him away from me. As we got older and I would sneak out to train, he would come with me. He was never afraid to challenge my wolf and my wolf was never afraid to put him in his place.

"Which Festivities? The ones with the horny fourteen year olds or with the adults that are probably boring everyone with their stories?" I laugh.

"Good to know the news didn't make you sour." He comments and I get confused.

"What news?" There shouldn't be anything new or shocking coming to my attention today. I already know my father's plans to make my brother Alpha, I've known that since joining this family.

But Isaac didn't need to answer my question because the overwhelming smell of him. I immediately push past my brother and try to rush into the house. Isaac looked confused but understood as soon as he turned. From the corner of my eye I can see my father laughing to himself when he realizes what was happening. I couldn't get out of this situation fast enough.

I finally make it into the house but I know he saw me. He knows that he isn't welcome on this land. Well only by me of course. My father cherishes the ground he walks on for the soul reason of ruining me.

Ryan Campbell, Beta of the Jones Pack, was put on this earth as nothing more than a pawn that my father can use against me. Sometimes I really do believe that the moon made a mistake when it came to me. Why hadn't I been killed like all my unborn sisters? Why did the moon chose for me to live through this life full of downs.
