hello ghost readers, I love you as much as the readers who vote. It would mean the world to me if you could vote and comment :) if not I understand, I'll still love you.
Do we talk about this? Do we ignore it and pretend it never happened? Did it actually happen? I can't figure it out.
Emmett stormed away from me yesterday and he didn't come back for hours. I thought he hated me, I would have put money on the fact that he hated me. But when he came back, he kissed me like there was nobody else in the room. In that moment, it was just us – and it was just that, a moment so quick that I can't even remember if it was real or just a moment of drunken haze.
All of the little moments that I've had with Emmett, I thought I just imagined them – thoughts from a lonely wolf, maybe. But maybe those moments were real, maybe it's all more than just my imagination. I'll never find the answer though because I can't do that to my sister – he was her mate, never mine. My mate is the pack bicycle, as I was reminded all throughout the night with the pains that just wouldn't stop.
It's now early in the morning, the sun only just starting to peak out. I quietly get out of bed, careful not to wake the females that all camped out in my room. I continue my tip toeing until I'm safely sat outside on the balcony, watching the sky slowly brighten. I know now is the time to get serious, no more playing. It's time to get this ready and into action.
"Can I join you?" Emmett doesn't should sheepish, but strong and mighty. I don't turn back around to face him, I just nod.
"Do you think I'm ready?" I ask because this is the most important question I have to ask.
"Soon." His answer comes quick. "What's your plan?"
"He needs to be put down. But he's smarter than being alone, he'll always have someone nearby. He won't fight fair, if I challenge him they'll work together to take me down."
"And the curse? They can't do too much damage because of your brother, right?" Emmett asks.
"no." I answer. "But they can lock me up and throw away the key."
"So it won't be a challenge." Emmett nods in understanding. "We're going to war."
"I can't ask you to do that for me. If I'm the alpha I think I should be, then I should be able to do this on my own." I reveal the reason behind my resistance to working with him. He is a future beta, Jax the future Alpha. He has his family who cares about him and a bright future ahead. These friends I've made, how could I ask them to risk their lives for me? I can't, I just can't.
"The strength of the pack is the wolf but the strength of the wolf is the pack." He tells me. "Your job is to lead, not to do it all on your own. It's going to take you time to get your pack on your side and until that happens you'll have us. This is your title were fighting for, start acting like the Alpha you're supposed to be. "
"I just want my pack to be at peace." I tell him. The beast is rising within me, destroying all the doubt. She is making it known how strong she is, even beneath my skin side. But all I want is the pack to be how it's supposed to be. To rid the darkness that my father has cast. It's time for the light to shine.
"Peace doesn't come from War," he says. "Creation does. War is destruction, you're destroying the pack as it is to create a new and better one. That's what we're aiming for – creation not peace"
"Creation of a pack that doesn't see a male as their alpha, but as a wolf. Me. I'm their alpha."
We fall silent, watching the sun rise over the land. Being nothing other than in each other's presence.
