Bella's POV: A week later
It has been a week since the pack had left to find the intruder and although most have now returned there are only two left to come back: Sam and Jacob.
As I thought of how life as a single mother would be or having to explain to my three little ones that their father was dead I went outside and see Sam. I smiled and ran up to him and grabbed his arms and ask almost frantically "where's Jacob, is he alright? " I hadn't thought anything could happen to him until yesterday and now to see Sam I saw hope until he said the words that I didn't wanna hear, "I don't know. " he whispered softly almost like he didn't wanna say it as he looked at his feet for a moment before looking into my eyes with his burning hands on my cheek, "it's been a while since you've ate." he said as a statement instead of a question and I noded knowing he was right and my eyes must be pure black. "go... eat, I'll watch the children. " he said before he walked away towards Billy's house.
