ruby
i yawned and sat up, rubbing my eyes. i grabbed my phone to see nothing but bullshit.

jack - i miss you. a lot.

nate - we should hang out this weekend... text me x

but there was something that wasn't...

unknown - hey, ruby? it's jayden

it was sent only a few minutes ago. smiling, i quickly sent a reply.

ruby - hey, what's up? :)

jayden - i know it's inappropriate...

ruby - screw that

jayden - but would you want to hang out today? it's my day off

ruby - you want to spend your day off with me?

jayden - of course i do

ruby - well i'd love to

jayden - i'll pick you up at 12

my smile grew. i quickly got up and took a shower, before changing into a simple, black romper.

i only had fifteen minutes before jayden was picking me up, so i quickly slapped on some basic makeup, slid into my converses and jogged downstairs.

"where're you going in such a hurry?" luke asked, walking out of the kitchen, a coffee in his hand.

i grabbed it and took a sip, causing him to scowl. "out. see ya!"

i rushed outside to see a motorbike parked in the driveway. jayden was stood next to it, a helmet in his hands.

he smiled nervously at me as i walked over. "hey. you look really... really gorgeous."

i smiled back. "thankyou. where are we going?" i asked curiously.

"you'll see." he grinned, placing a helmet in my hands. i watched as he slid his on his head with ease and buckled it up. "do you know how-?"

i shook my head. jayden chuckled and pulled it onto my head and gently buckled it up.

he climbed onto the bike and i gingerly swung my leg over and hoisted myself up. i wrapped my arms around his torso as he started the bike.

my heart was pounding as he reversed out of the driveway and sped down the street.

after twenty minutes of the world speeding past us, my eyes were watering slightly, but i was having fun nonetheless.

jayden stopped the bike and i almost began to complain, until i realised where we were.

"the carnival?" i exclaimed, climbing off the bike and taking off my helmet.

jayden nodded, smiling nervously. "d-do you like it?" he asked.

i immediately nodded and hugged him. i pulled away to see his cheeks flushed pink.

"i love it! let's go!" i took his hand and we both rushed over to the ticket booth.

jayden paid for me, which i was completely against, and we walked inside, our hands still tightly latched together.

"what do you want to do first?" he asked me as i gazed around. my eyes landed on a bright red, lit up roller coaster and i pointed at it.

"that looks sick." i said breathlessly.

we walked over to the short line, bought our tickets and waited. after a few minutes, it was our turn to ride and we slid into the front seats.

a greasy-haired man came over and pushed down our safety rails. "have fun." he winked at me, before walking off.

"five. four. three. two." a loud voice emitted from the ride, counting us down. "one."

the ride shot off and i shrieked at the pure speed. we rushed up an incline and sped down within seconds.

midway through the ride and my screaming, jayden's hand found mine. i glanced over to see him smiling at me.

i squeezed his hand just as we spun through a loop. the ride then slowed to a stop, but my heart did not, continuing to pulsate out of my chest.

"jesus christ." i panted.

jayden laughed as our harnesses were released and we stood up. we walked away from the ride as i tried to calm myself down.

"my adrenaline has gone through the roof." i giggled, running a hand through my hair. "what's next?"

"how about something a little more calm." jayden suggested, chuckling. "like the ferris wheel?"

i glanced at the tall structure, then nodded. "sure."

we ran over together and purchased our tickets, which i insisted on buying this time. we waited for our cart to come down, then we climbed inside.

unfortunately, two people followed us. two friends, possibly brothers, who looked to be about twenty.

"wasn't what i had in mind." jayden muttered to me as we sat down. i stifled a laugh.

we sat opposite the two boys as our carriage rose. jayden took my hand as we stared out at the park.

"i'm keelan. this is noah." one of the boys spoke, breaking the silence. "sorry we crashed your date."

"yeah." the other boy, noah, chimed in.

i glanced over and smiled at them. "it's okay. this isn't officially a date, anyway."

"yeah... her mum is my boss. we can't exactly date." jayden stated.

i sighed sadly. everything would be so much simpler. i could date jayden, and jack and i would be history.

keelan smiled sympathetically. "sorry to hear that. we can't be together either." he gestured to noah.

if i had been drinking, i would've spat it out.

and i thought they were brothers.

noah frowned. "yeah. my parents aren't exactly accepting. they've practically set up an arranged marriage for me."

"wow. sounds like you've got it worse than we do." jayden said. "sorry."

keelan shrugged. "it's alright. we're still together. just no one knows. so consider yourselves lucky." he smirked.

we all laughed as the ferris wheel moved back down to its original spot. i climbed out, followed by jayden.

"it was nice meeting you guys. i hope it all works out." i smiled at them.

"thankyou." noah called as they walked away, not holding hands but still very close.

smiling, we walked in the direction of another ride, before i froze.

"what's wrong?" jayden asked nervously.

i glared at the sight of him. him and his bitch, stood in the line of a ride, talking and laughing.

"let's go over here, okay? i want to try and win that elephant." i quickly stated, pointing at a nearby stall.

i dragged jayden over, hoping that the dark-haired devil wouldn't see me.

unfortunately, unknown to me, he already had.
