ruby
the sound of my phone chiming woke me up. i let out a small groan before opening my eyes and trying to sit up.within seconds i realised that was impossible due to the arm wrapped tightly around me. this arm was attached to a shirtless, messy-haired jayden.
i studied him carefully. his shaggy blonde hair that was always slightly in his eyes, his scattering of freckles across his face that he hated but i thought were cute, and his smile. even now as he slept, a small smile was etched across his lips.
i lifted the bed covers slightly and raised my eyebrows at what i saw. his body.
i'd never seen jayden without a shirt, but honestly i should ask him to take it off more often.
not quite tanned, but defined abs, and a strong v-line pointing right down to his-
"what're you staring at?" his humoured voice rang out.
my eyes snapped back up to his face, which was grinning.
shit.
"uh, morning!" i exclaimed cheerfully, my voice slightly guilty.
jayden chuckled and kissed my temple, then released his grip on me, letting me reach out and grab my phone, the whole reason i was awake in the first place.
jack - hey, i'll pick you up at 1 babe ;)
guilt flashed through me.
oh god. i shouldn't be doing this.
hanging out with a married man, whilst a single, perfectly lovely guy is waiting for me.
i sighed, causing jayden to sit up. "everything okay, love?" he asked cautiously.
i smiled at him. "of course. it was just one of my friends reminding me about our shopping plans today."
"oh, what time?" jayden asked.
"one." i responded nervously, praying he'd buy it.
he smiled. "alright. i'll get out of your hair by then." he chuckled and ran a hand through his own blonde mop.
i giggled and leaned forward, kissing his cheek. as i pulled back, he held my gaze. we stared at each other, then both slowly leaned in.
finally.
our lips collided for the first time in a soft and slow embrace. it didn't last for long, but the kiss was gentle and sweet and i enjoyed it.
i pulled away, leaving jayden with pink cheeks and a wide smile.
"uh, i-i liked that." he admitted sheepishly, making me laugh.
he stood up and grabbed his shirt, pulling it on swiftly. he glanced back at me, still sat in bed, covered by the sheets and smiled.
"you look so gorgeous." he said softly.
i felt myself blush.
"i'll call you." jayden promised, leaning over to give me a sweet kiss on the forehead.
i watched as he left my room and within thirty seconds i heard my front door slam. smiling giddily, i lay back in bed.
for a few seconds that is, until i realised i had to get ready.
i jumped up and rushed to the bathroom to splash my face with cold water. i hurriedly applied minimal makeup, to make me look half-decent, then opened my closet.
quickly grabbing a navy blue dress, i yanked it on over my naked body, then slid into a pair of tan-coloured boots.
jack
unable to wait in the hell i call a house, i arrived at ruby's early and sat in my car.every now and then i could see a figure in the window of ruby's room that even from far away i could tell wasn't ruby.
i got out of my car and leaned against it, shoving my hands in my pockets.
after another five minutes, her front door opened and a blonde boy walked out. the same boy from the carnival.
he was dressed, but his hair looked messy, and i frowned.
i didn't bother trying to talk to him as he sauntered past, ignoring me completely.
rolling my eyes, i focused my attention on ruby's window again.
i could see her figure, and she was undressing. i lowered my sunglasses to get a better view.
i watched her swiftly pull off her pyjama top, leaving her naked top half exposed. my breathing hitched and i tried hard to contain jack junior in my pants.
i practically pouted when she put on a bra, then slid into a dress, which she did look gorgeous in.
i preferred that dress off.
she disappeared from the window and within minutes, the front door opened again and she was outside. she glanced around before locking eyes with me and running over.
"hey sweet thang." i said, hugging her tightly. ruby stared at me, confused. "what, you don't like it?" i referred to her new nickname.
she shrugged. "i dunno. i guess i'll get used to it." she surveyed me. "you look good."
"isn't that my line?" i raised my eyebrows at her.
she shrugged again. "probably. you just took your time, and plus, i already know how good i look. i don't need you telling me."
i grinned as she reached past me to open the car door. she slid into her seat, and then i pushed the door closed for her.
i quickly got into my own seat.
"where're we going today, mr gilinsky?" she asked innocently, smiling.
i felt myself shudder slightly, turned on. "i was thinking the park, then i was thinking a swim?" i suggested.
ruby nodded. "alright. sounds decent." she responded.
i tried not to look too offended.
decent? really?!
shaking it off, i started the car and pulled away from the curb, all thoughts of that blonde bastard exiting my mind as we began to talk.
"so, how's your wife?" ruby asked boldly, staring out the window.
i rolled my eyes. "that bitch? no clue." i responded honestly.
over the last few years, helen and i had grown apart a lot, but ever since i met ruby, i find myself barely talking to my wife. only brief, single sentences at a time.
but as i glanced over at the young, tanned and beautiful girl sat next to me with a smile on her face, i realised how little i cared about anyone else anymore.
