"luke!" i exclaimed, barging into his room. he was laying in bed on his phone.

he rolled over and glanced at me. "what?" he grumbled.

"you said there'd be food in the house! there's literally nothing in the fridge." i exclaimed.

he rolled his eyes. "ruby, just order a pizza or something."

"mum would kill me!" i sighed. "i'll go out for breakfast tomorrow." i grumbled, leaving his room and slamming the door.

i flopped on my bed and groaned. my stomach rumbled for the tenth time in the past seven minutes, but who's counting?

pulling my laptop from under my bed, i quickly logged on to netflix and started watching freaks and geeks.

after about thirty minutes, i heard a knock on my window. confused and also a little scared, i closed my laptop and stood up.

i walked over to my window and cautiously opened my curtains. my eyes widened and i quickly pushed open my window.

"what the hell are you doing?!" i exclaimed.

jack quickly pulled himself into my room, stood up and dusted himself off.

"what the fuck?! how did you find out where i live? how did you know this room was mine? and how the fuck did you climb up a two storey wall?!" i kept myself from shouting in fear luke would hear me.

jack smiled nervously and scratched the back of his neck. "well, uh, i got your address from betty. i told her you left your jacket and i wanted to return it."

i frowned slightly.

"i honestly didn't know which room was yours and i was just guessing and hoping it wouldn't be your mother." he chuckled quietly.

i rolled my eyes. "and..?"

"as for the wall, i used to do rock climbing back in high school." he stated.

"our walls are flat! what the hell did you grip on to?" i asked, raising a brow.

he shrugged in response.

"so tell me, why the fuck are you in my room? we met several hours ago. this is beyond creepy." i told him.

jack nodded. "i know. but get dressed." he glanced down at my pyjama shorts and tight tank top. "although i'm loving that outfit, it's not appropriate for mcdonalds."

"hey, have you seen what some people wear there?" i snapped defensively. "wait, mcdonalds?"

"yep. i figured after a whole night of not eating, you might be hungry." he stated casually.

i smiled and shrugged. "yeah, you could say that." my stomach growled in agreement.

"then let's go." jack grinned, taking my hand.

i quickly grabbed a hoodie, then watched as he climbed out of the window. i rushed over to see him dropping to the grass below.

"come on, jump." he told me.

"are you crazy?!" i whispered loudly. "i'll die!"

jack chuckled. "come on. i'll catch you." he held his arms up.

"no, you won't!" i replied. "i'm too heavy." i sighed as he laughed.

"sweetheart, no you're not. i promise i'll catch you. you can do it." he encouraged.

i sighed, quickly climbing out of the window. i hesitated for a second, before letting go and falling backwards.

i tried not to scream as i fell, and before long i landed in jack's arms and he held me close.

i opened my eyes as he gently placed me on the ground. i pulled on my hoodie.

"you okay?" he asked me, a hint of a smile on his face. i glared at him.

"let's go to mcdonalds." i snapped.

he chuckled, took my hand and led me to his car. i slid into the passengers seat and waited for jack to start the car.

after ten minutes of driving, we stopped and i saw the glowing, neon yellow arches.

we walked inside the almost deserted restaurant together.

the bored teenager behind the register glanced at us. "welcome to mcdonalds. what can i get for you?" he said in a monotone voice.

jack looked at me expectantly.

"uh, can i have a mcchicken, large fries and a coke." i blurted out my usual order.

"i'll take two whoppers, a large fries and a large black coffee." jack stated.

i went and took a seat in a booth as i waited for him to pay and get our meals.

several minutes later, jack sat down across from me and handed me my food.

unable to contain my hunger any longer, i unwrapped my burger and took a huge bite.

"what else does that mouth do?" jack winked as i chewed my burger.

i rolled my eyes, swallowed my food and took a sip of my coke.

"although i'm appreciating the free food, why the hell did you drag me out of my house at midnight?" i asked.

jack shrugged. "i wanted to see you." he stated casually, eating his fries.

"we saw each other two hours ago. we also met five hours ago." i reminded him.

he shrugged again. "so what? i like you. need i remind you, we've already kissed. twice."

i frowned. "and what about your wife?" i asked, tossing a couple of fries in my mouth.

jack tensed up slightly. "let's not talk about her." he scowled.

i took another bite of my burger. "alright. what do you want to talk about then?"

"you." he replied smoothly. "since we only met five hours ago, i don't know much about you. so why don't you tell me."

"why do you want to know about me?" i asked, slightly confused.

"why wouldn't i?" jack asked, raising his eyebrows.

"because. no one cares about me. luke is the golden child. i'm just there." i stated.

he reached over and placed his hand on top of mine. it was warm and i smiled slightly at his touch.

"no, you're not, sweetheart. i want to know everything about you." jack insisted.

my smile grew. "really?"

he squeezed my hand. "really."
