Chapter 4
As soon as Draven reached his parent's house he shut the truck off, climbed out and stripped. When his last piece of clothing had been shed he shifted into his black and tan wolf and took off into the woods.
"What the Hell was that all about?" Alex asked Jesse as he walked up to him.
"Yeah, I have no idea." He told the younger twin as he headed for the house.
Alex looked in the direction that his brother had gone, grabbed the forgotten clothes off the ground, and started to follow him.
He caught up to him at the lake, where he knew that he would be at. It seemed like that's where all of the kids went when they had a lot on their mind.
Alex tossed the clothes at the big wolf's feet and and sat down to wait for him to decide to change back.
"I found my mate." Draven said as soon as he was back in human form and had his pants on.
"That's great man. " Alex replied. Not understanding why his brother was so mad about finding his other half.
"She's human." Draven huffed, sitting down as well.
"Oh." Was the only answer his brother could come up with.
"Yeah, 'oh'. I mean how in the Hell does that happen? I'm an Alpha! I can't be mated to a human. Her soul isn't even split! How do I share a soul with some-one who's is already whole?!" Draven shouted. "This just doesn't make sense. No-one that we know of has ever had a human for a mate. Especially an Alpha. I mean does she stay human? Will she change? I don't even know if she will accept me. Shit! I don't even know if I can accept her. I mean we all know that we can live without a mate. Look at how long Nana survived before she met Charles."
Alex looked over at his brother to make sure that his twin was finished before he started to speak. It was always like looking in a mirror when he looked at his older brother. They were so identical, until you looked at their eyes, and the slight difference in their build.
When he knew that Draven was done he started to speak. "First of all, you can't use Nana as an example. We all know that she was surviving, but she never truly lived until she met Charles. Second, so what if no-one has ever been mated to a human before. The fates obviously know what they are doing. So it had to be done for a reason."
"Screw the fates Alex! They-" He was interrupted by a voice behind him.
"You can't steal my lines Draven Marten!" Ansleigh yelled.
The brothers turned around at the same time to see their sister waddling up to them. When she reached them she grabbed a shoulder of each of them and lowered herself down to the ground.
"Alright, when we get ready to go one of you are going to have to help me get my big ass up." She smiled at them and looked at Draven. "So you really did meet your other half, huh?"
"Yeah, how'd you figure it out?" He answered her.
"Cuz I'm the smart sibling. Remember?" She smirked at him. "For real though, one look on your face and I could tell. It was the same look that I had when I found out Asher was my other half." She stretched her legs out and leaned back on her hands, trying to give the growing pup in her belly some more room. "It really does happen for a reason brother. I know that's really not what you want to hear right now, but it's true. Look at Ash and I. No-one else would have been able to put up with his annoying ass. He would have been doomed to be alone forever." She smiled lovingly though as she thought about her husband.
"That's not the same Ansleigh. At least Asher is a wolf. And really Alex, you can't say anything. You're mating is picture perfect, and has been since the beginning. My mate has no idea about this life. Do you really think that she will want me when she finds out that I sprout fur and slobber everywhere?" Draven told them both.
"Well keep your tongue in your mouth, until she begs you for it."
"Alexander that was disgusting!" Ansleigh yelled.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't resist." Alex said between his laughter. "Seriously though, " he continued when he sobered up. "Get to know her first and then when she's ready tell her about your other side. She is your other half. Even if she can't feel it right now, a part of her will recognise that. I still say that you should talk to dad. Maybe it's happened before in another pack. "
"I agree. I think you should talk dad." Ansleigh said.
"Fine. I'll talk to dad. But I still don't know if I'm going to accept her. It's just weird." Draven stood up and reached out to take his sister's hands. He helped her up, fake grunting the whole time.
"Damn An! How much weight have you gained this time?" He asked her, hiding his smile.
She punched him in the arm, "Shut up, you ass. I have a wolf growing in my body. What's your excuse for gaining weight?" She smiled at him.
"Muscle weighs more than fat hon." He said returning the smile.
"Yeah, I think you wanted to get a head start on your freshman fifteen." She told him as she looped arms with the twins.
"Damn, why did I come home again?"
"Because you know that no-one can give you any better advice than your amazing siblings." She answered.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure that wasn't it." Draven said rolling his eyes.
When they reached the porch they released each other's arms and went inside. Ansleigh went upstairs to check on the baby and Alex went off to find his mate. Standing there alone in the foyer Draven looked around at the home that he grew up in.
Could he really bring a human here? Would she understand when she seen a young child get mad or upset and then all of a sudden a wolf pup was sitting there? Would she be able to handle the huge crowd that seems to always end up there? What about all of the nudity? They weren't nudist but it happens more often than not that you accidentally see some-one else's goods. How could a mere human begin to even understand this lifestyle, let alone be in charge of all of it?
How could a human ever be a great Luna?
