Chapter 18
The doctor scooped up Eryn in his arms and rushed upstairs to an empty room, with Draven close behind.
"Binding your souls while she is pregnant was a stupid move." The doctor scolded both of them.
"I know." Draven told him.
"Just please save him." Eryn told him crying.
The doctor laid her on the bed and removed her pants and underwear.
"Get me a warm rag and a towel." He told Draven. Looking up to Eryn he frowned, "There is a lot of blood here. I really don't know what to expect right now. I'm sorry."
Draven returned and handed the doctor the items that he had asked for. Joining Eryn on the bed, he wrapped his arms around her. She buried her head in his chest and cried even harder.
The doctor wiped up the blood with the wet rag and then dried her off. He began pulling stuff out of his bag. Hooking an odd shaped object into his phone.
Grabbing a bottle, he looked back up to Eryn. "I need you to lay back, bend your knees and relax. This is going to be cold, I'm sorry. Technology has advanced enough to allow me to do an ultrasound on my phone, but not enough to make the gel warm." He smiled softly at her before looking back down at the task in hand.
Eryn jumped as she felt the intrusion of her body, but soon relaxed. She could feel the doctor moving the odd shaped wand around as he looked at the screen on his phone.
"Right there, look." He held the phone up to show his future leaders.
Draven sucked in a breath as he felt his heart flutter, looking at the little human on the screen.
"Do you see those lines moving down there?" The doctor asked.
Eryn and Draven nodded.
"Listen." He told them. He turned his phone up and the room was filled with the soft drumming sound of a tiny heart beat.
Fresh tears sprang to Eryn's eyes. Hearing her baby's heartbeat settled her raging nerves some. "Is he ok?" She asked quietly.
The doctor turned the phone back to him and moved the wand around some more. "Everything looks good. The heartbeat sounds a bit fast, for a human fetus, but that is probably due to the amount of stress that he was just under. I'm not sure why you started bleeding, but you both look healthy." He removed the wand and wiped her off.
Draven grabbed the blanket and pulled it over his mate's bare lower half. He stood up and shook the doctor's hand. "Thank you sir."
"You're welcome Draven. I want you guys in my office every week for the next few weeks. I want to keep an eye on him. I don't know why Eryn was bleeding, but there has to be a reason."
"Yes sir." Draven answered as he led him out.
He turned to Eryn, "I'm going to get your bag from the truck, so that you can take a shower and then we'll go to my room for the night."
She nodded her head, "Thank you."
"What do you think we should name him?" Eryn asked as they laid in the darkened room.
"Him?" Draven asked with a smile.
"Yeah, I can just feel it."
"Ok. Who am I to argue? His heart is beating right under yours."
She turned her head to smile at him. "So what should his name be?"
"Hm, how about Oliver?"
"How about, no. I want something unique. Like Drexlin. You will never hear that anywhere else. I want something like that."
He lifted up so that his head was resting on his hand, as he looked down at her. He smiled. "Ansleigh wanted to name him after all of us, but she didn't want him to just have our names, she wanted him to have his own. So she just combined our names and came up with Drexlin. His middle name is Harvey, after Asher's brother."
"See I want something like that. I don't want to keep calling him baby, or it. After I've seen him, I want to give him his own identity."
"Ok, how about Lupo?"
"Lupo?" She gave him a quizzical look.
"It's how you say Wolf in Italian. I would suggest how the Seminoles say it, but I don't want to name our child Yee-haw."
Eryn started laughing. "Yeah, I'm good on that. Hmm, Lupo Draven Roth. I like it." She gave him a kiss and rolled over.
Before Draven fell asleep, he silently thanked the Moon Goddess for all of his blessings.
