Chapter Ten

                      Chapter 10

  Daymen's head snapped up. From his phone. "You did what?!"

  "That one wasn't planned, but it seemed to work out that way." Ryan said, still smug like. "She is carrying my pup. It happened the first time we slept together,  I guess it was just meant to be."

  Draven turned to knock his cousin in the mouth,  but his father's Alpha command stopped him.

  "You really are dumb aren't you?" Daymen asked.

  Ryan looked offended, "What do you mean?"

  "She's not carrying your pup, she's just carrying your baby?"

  "Huh?"

  "A human and a wolf won't make a pup. They will just make a baby. It's in the genes. A human can make a baby with a human and a wolf can make a pup with another wolf. But if you have the wolf gene and you get with a human, the only gene that will pass to the offspring is the human gene. If you had truly been her mate and her wolf had already been created, then the story would be different. But since you are just a selfish little shit, only your human gene has been passed to your child." Daymen explained to the clueless wolf.

  "That's not possible! I am a wolf. I can't have a mere human for a child."

  Their conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door.

  "Come in." Daymen called out.

  Ryan's face turned white when his father and grandfather walked in.

  "What have you done Ryan?!" Jaden asked his grandson.

  "I just wanted Draven to know what it felt like to lose something that was supposed to be his." He answered.

  "What are you talking about?" Shawn questioned.

  "You were going to be Alpha when Daymian stepped down, until Aunt Sam brought Daymen here. You should be the current Alpha, and then me. It's my right!"

  Jaden walked up to Ryan and smacked him in the back of the head. "You stupid boy. Our families have been friends too long for this. Daymian is my best friend, that's why he was going to ask your dad, when he didn't think that he had an heir. No-one was mad when Daymen came into the picture,  the right was handed down like it was supposed to be. You were not born with Alpha blood in your system. You are no Alpha, and you are no grandson of mine." He turned around and walked out the door.

  Ryan's shoulders slouched. He had never seen so much anger come from his grandfather before. He wanted to teach Draven a lesson, and while it appeared he had, he had also screwed himself.

  "How do I fix this?" He asked his Alpha.

  Daymen shook his head, "I really don't know. If there wasn't an innocent child involved I would tell you to just break it off with her. But now you have a responsibility to her. And Draven's soul is seeking to be bound with it's other half. How do you suppose you guys are going to make that work?"

  "I don't want anything to do with that child. It's a weak human. My lineage has been tainted now." Ryan seethed.

  This time Draven made it to him before his dad could stop him and slammed his fist into his mouth. "Don't ever say anything about the child that my mate is carrying again. I don't care if the baby is a part of you, I will kill you."

  "You care so much about that abomination, you raise it!" Ryan yelled before turning to walk out.

  Draven turned to his dad, "Now what?"

  "You're going to have to convince her that it's supposed to be you that she is with. It's going to be the hardest thing that you've ever done."

  Draven nodded. "I can do it."

  "One more thing son." He paused to make sure that he had Draven's undivided attention. "You can't bind your souls until after she gives birth."

"What?!" He yelled.

  "I told you. Splitting her soul is going to be excruciating for her. Splitting, then re-binding her soul, and creating her wolf while pregnant will most surely cause her to have a miscarriage. The child is innocent and does not deserve to pay with it's life. It's not a gurentee, but it's not a chance that you should take."

  Draven dropped his head, feeling completely defeated. He had decided to accept his mate and now he was being told that he had to wait almost a year before he could be completed by her.

  He was beginning to think Ansleigh had been right, someone in their family had really pissed off the Fates.
