All of you guys in southern States and ones who don't have many snow days and are complaining about the noreaster and how many days North Eastern people will have off, let me explain.
Okay so my school has 5 snow days built into the school year. After 5 show days, the snow days get tacked onto the end of the school, so not only do we start school earlier, we get out later. And we have to wait for like a foot of snow before we have a snow day.
You guys who don't have much snow get off at like two inches, right? If you even have snow.
You guys get out earlier than us and go in later than us. The latest I've gone into school is Sep. 4th.
What's the latest you have been to school?
The earliest I've been out of school is June 16.
What's the earliest you've been out of school?
Yeah, us with lots of snow days get off during the year, but we have shorter summers. Every school has to have 180 days of active school. If you take off during the year, the days are put on the end of the year.
Everyone who has snow days loves having off in the middle of the year, but we hate having to stay in summer. Whoever walks home absolutely hates walking home in both seasons.
Yeah, yeah. We complain about having snow, but you try driving, walking, riding a bike, or whatever your mode of transportation on slushy, icy roads with very high mounds of snow next to the road.
I've seen a mound of snow that was at least 18 feet tall.
Oh, and , in school, you can't have snowball fights or climb on the mountains of snow. You can't do anything fun with snow before, during, or right after school.
Walking home is a bitch. Walking to school is a bitch. Going outside is a bitch.
We have so many jackets and boots and scarfs and gloves that we lose count. We cherish summer and the heat waves because we know we won't have them in winter like anyone in California or Nevada or Arizona.
We chose to live here and I know we shouldn't complain, but anyone who grew up in a state that doesn't get cold or have much snow, try living up east. You'll understand why we complain.
My mom literally made arrangements for me to sleep on my neighbor's couch because she doesn't know if she'll be home tomorrow night. My dad is staying in Dot. and my mom is working from 3-11. We have to be close to at least one neighbor so we do have someone to stay with if it gets too bad.
And I'm through with my rant. Such a nice topic to come back on, right?
Good Night and Good Dreams.
