Shannon POV:

Well, the day is finally here, the day we were going to escape hell, I mean Dunfield. Yeah, in some aspects I am going to miss it, leaving Miss Jackson and Chris’s resting place as well as the normal, boring daily routine. Not school though, not all the bullies that have caused most of the scars. Frankly, they can all go rot in hell for all I care.

Leaving here will make everything better.

Lewis has made life bearable again; life is worth living now…just. So travelling to somewhere different, away from this chaos, starting a fresh, will improve life further. Surely?

I know for a fact that Lewis is thrilled for finally running away; apparently he has been developing this idea for a very long time. He told me that our future together excites him because will be going on a journey mutually, leaving shit behind, just him and I.

Nobody else.

Lewis POV:

“Ready?” I asked Shannon quietly as she zipped her backpack up, putting it on over her hoodie.

“Yup, you?” She nodded, looking at the floor with her big, blue eyes.

“Yeah, don’t worry Shannon, it will all be okay” comforting her, I pulled her closer to me, planting a soft kiss on the top of her head.

“I know, just kinda scared I guess”

“I will be with you, forever and always”

Smiling, we kissed again before dodging all the faulty, squeaky floorboards out of the house, creeping past Mrs Lester and Robert asleep on the sofa together. Bork! Shannon stopped for a moment and looked at them, probably mentally saying goodbye before carrying on.

Somehow we made it out alive.

Pulling our small suitcases through the dark, abandoned streets we arrived to the train station. It was deathly silent; the only noise was the buzz of the live rails.

Now for Part One of my master plan: purchasing our tickets at the machine rather through the train conductor person. This limits the possibility of getting caught being underage on the train journey but also aids our social anxiety problems slightly.

Here we go…
