[Untitled : Chapter 1 ]

Kyle paced around the empty house, it is not really empty in the sense as the furniture and decorations were still in place, it was the emptiness of his love ones. Guilt filled him, he never been there for his ex-wife and daughter when there were living here. Instead of caring and loving his family, he ruined his family claiming he love Linda. It felt like he no longer love his family anymore and he decide to follow what he think was right.

The divorce papers were on his study desk. They had signed it, Jessica requested for this, and he knew this will happened some day. She did not even ask for anything property or assets but she just want Amanda to live her,it was not only hers but Amanda opinion. He also gave her the black convertible which she needed for travel. He thought it was a suitable arrangement for Amanda's stay, as he knew that no child would want to stay with such a father, with the fact that she found out the truth with her mother.

He had not been doing the duty of a responsible father, people in the society known him as successful man, a responsible father who love his family but the fact was he was far from others' view. Even Linda thought that.

He remembered that day when Jessica and Amanda found them in the room, Amanda was shocked to disgust while Jessica went out for a ride to nowhere. Amanda shut herself in her room packing, Jessica came back with the divorce papers in her hands. Kyle accepted it and they left this house empty.

He tried to contact them and tried to do some things to help to compensate them, but it seems that Jessica being secretive so not want him to be in any part of her life anymore. He get back to his hectic work life which filled with many important meetings.

Linda had been feeling left out lately ever since Jessica, her only friend she can trust found out she had being cheating her. She could not deny the fact that she fall in love with her nest friend 's husband and she felt guilty. Part of herself was jumping for joy because they had separate and now she could be with Kyle. While part of her was upset, she lost her friend and this is driving her insane being the villain. Now, Kyle was busy with his company, part of her suspect he was trying to distract himself from their relationship.

Jessica had just finished cleaning her house with Amanda, this was hers now which was left by her parents, the living room and kitchen were back to the ones she was familiar with. It was beautiful. She also added a few little things to make it feel modern too. This is what it call a home, a new home for her and her daughter. She could feel the warm and comfort here.

She went to attic and found Amanda looking through some wooden boxes. She gave her the permission to since she had done a good job in helping her.

"Did you find anything interesting?" Jessica chuckled.

"Not really, they were mostly old photographs and a bit of this and that but I like this one." Amanda held a classic square shaped music box.

This music box was the first gift Grandpa George gave to Grandma Theresa when they were together. It was Grandma Theresa's beloved. Jessica looked at it, felt the warm and the successful relationship her parents had. Both envied and upset, it reminded her about her failure marriage. Tears rolled down her cheeks despite fighting them, Amanda gave her mother a hug to comfort her.

"Mum, let's go check out your new wardrobe! You will love it! Guarantee with stamps and me." Amanda changed the subject.

"You?" Jessica asked with curiosity.

"Ha ha, you will know it soon." Amanda blindfold her mother with a scarf and led her to her bedroom.

"Mummy ! How many times must I repeat myself? No peaking!" Amanda sounds like a child.

Surprising her mother with the new contents in the wardrobe was Amanda's idea as a gift, which happened to be a distraction from her mother's negative thought.

She packed away all the old plain clothes that her mother used to wear which was not a style according to Amanda. She brought in all the new clothes and accessories they had bought while they were spending their days living in the hotels waiting for their new home to be ready. It was not a surprise though since she bought her mother round the city and gave her a big makeover.

It was a good start for her mother since she was no longer the homemaker who wait all night for her husband, whom does not treat her equally. Now she is and still is a writer with a supporting daughter who will be there in her life nomatter what. They had to depend on one another now.

"Are we there yet Am ?" Jessica asked impatiently.

"Soon mummy! We are … … there now!" Amanda led her to the front of the wardrobe and opened it. As soon as she revealed the contents in it,she unfold the blindfold.

"Surprise!" Amanda exclaimed.

Jessica looked at her daughter with wide eyes, there was no different from the clothes that they bought during their little 'mother & daughter bonding' break. Amanda had insisted on having a makeover for her, and it was a big step for Jessica, getting back to her old self, however, she never gave up because she had her motivation- Amanda, and she thought it was a good idea too.

Amanda took out a medium size box which was not familiar to Jessica.

"Drums roll please.... Ta da, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Mummy! Happy Birthday to you!" Amanda sang.

Jessica looked at her phone for the date, it was today, her birthday and she had forgotten, she was not surprised about not remembering her birthday, since she had been in the chaos for the past two weeks.

"Thank you Am!" She opened the box, revealing a knitted scarf, a couple of handmade accessories and a birthday card.

"When do you learn knitting?" Jessica asked in surprise.

"Since the day I found some knitting tools at the study, and you said I could help myself with them so I decided to pick up knitting." Amanda admitted.

"So those days you spent late at night knitting tills you fall asleep on your armchair?" Jessica chuckled.

Amanda nodded then smiled and laughed at what scene when her mother saw her slumber in the arm chair with her drooling. Drooling was something that Amanda was embarrassed, she could not help it, the weird thing was she drool in her sleep.

"Let's go to the kitchen, I have something for you." Amanda held her mother's hand and led her out of the room.
