[Untitled : Chapter 10]
After weeks of training for the competition and struggling with her school work. Amanda was off to the City with her team for the National Competition.
They took a two hours flight to the City on Sunday, the team were glad that they don't have to travel a bumpy road journey.
"Welcome to the City!" Mia exclaimed excitedly when we reached the airport terminal.
"Why are you so excited?" Amanda asked while she laughed at Mia who looked like a toddler looking around excitedly.
"Why shouldn't I be excited? Hello ! I have been living in La Vine Port the small little humble town for my whole entire sixteen years and now I'm actually at the City! Can you believe that? I can't believe that I'm actually here in the City! Please tell me I'm not dreaming." She rattled off with sparks in her eyes.
"You are not dreaming Mia, stop acting like a kid before the Coach sent you back home." Amanda laughed and poked her to make sure she drift back to reality.
Mia was my closest friend in the team, she is in year 4 too and she was a funny person and not to mention a good swimmer.
They had a ride to the hotel to check in and put our luggage away, then there was a instruction session and we were off for break for today before tomorrow - the competition. They were free to wandered around the place and come back before the curfew which is nine at night as we needed rest. Mia dragged Amanda out to give her a mini tour around the place, we went for window shopping, a carnival in the parade and a flea market.
Since it was Sunday, the crowd was huge but we managed to have fun, Mia was elated from what Amanda can see, she keep smiling, something that shone out - freedom. She was a quiet girl, not really lonely but if you dump her in a clique she will just find ways to get out of it, not really anti-social but this girl is special, people who misjudged her should wear glasses or something to have a clearer vision.
They went back to the hotel by eight plus because Amanda had been complaining that her legs ached, Amanda was not classified as a shopaholic, no way she could imagined herself as one.

The school competition was held at the famous Sport Village in the City.
We were excited, the Seniors were chatting with the others competitors from other schools, while the juniors were nervous. Amanda was feeling all right and ignoring the fact that she was nervous. She listened to her ipod to calm herself down while she looked around the place. It was crowded with many people coming from different places.
Soon, there were announcements and all the competitors were supposed to gather at an area.
Not long, the competition started and everyone was prepared, there was break in between and soon, it was Amanda's turn.
"All the best Amanda." Mia gave her a hug.
As the loud sound hit the air, Amanda jumped into the pool and swam her best stroke - breaststroke, she swam gracefully through the waves, she was lagging behind. She continued to speed up when she caught her competitors off guard and she managed to reach the second place.
After one lap, another to go and it will end shortly in a minute or so when she hit the wall. She make good use of this time and hoping she could speed up a little, catching up her competitor.
Minutes passed swiftly and she managed to reach the end of her lap about the same time as the swimmer.
She looked up and realized everyone was cheering, the time takers were checking the time, and it was shown that she had came in first.
She climbed out of the pool and grab a robe to warm herself. Mia came hugging her while the coach praised her for her good job and the others cheering.
After another break, it was the relay, the guys had done a good job claiming the Gold medals, now it was the girls turn and Amanda was in the team too, the coach had high hopes for this combination as it consists of many good and experienced swimmers, out of the seniors, Brittany is the best and everyone is sure this will turn out find. As predicted, the team claimed the Gold medals too.
After the competition presentation and the photo taking session, the team was told that they will be having a party at night to celebrate their success. They went to the hotel and washed up then went back to gathered at the foyer before they went to the Village to celebrate their success with the others competitors.
"Congratulations."
Amanda turned over and it was Kenneth.
"Thank you, Congratulations to you too." Amanda replied.
"Thank you." Kenneth laughed.
"So, are you not running away from you fans again?" Amanda said jokingly.
"Nope, hope not." Kenneth chuckled.
Amanda caught a few glances of Brittany in the middle of the dance floor with some anonymous guy, and she looked uncomfortable.
She heard her saying, "Let go of me, I don't know you." But the guy refused.
"Do you know him?" Amanda pointed at the guy.
"Nope." Kenneth looked at her curiously.
"Hey, where are you going?" Kenneth asked as Amanda walked towards Brittany and the annoying guy.
"Be right back." She replied.
As she was getting closer to them, Brittany knew her presence and was trying to hint her something, while the guy was too distracted that he didn't knew she was there gripping Brittany's hand.
"What are you doing?" Brittany mouthed.
Amanda put a finger to her own lip.
It's show time. Amanda thought evilly.
"Hey, what are you doing ! Let go of my girlfriend !" Amanda shouted at him and everyone around them looked at them.
"What your girlfriend?" He asked Brittany, as she nodded while she realized what Amanda is doing.
"Yeah that's right she's my girlfriend, G-I-R-L-F-R-I-E-N-D, get it? " Amanda asked, glaring at the annoying guy.
He looked at them with wide eyes and disgust filled in him and was mumbling 'Oh my ..." while he walked away.
After he left, Amanda and Brittany started laughing while the people who were crowded around them dismissed as they knew the show ended.
"Thanks for saving me, but it doesn't mean we are friend-friend you know?" Brittany said.
"I know, fellow teammate, did you see his face, oh my I should have brought my camera and take a picture of it." Amanda replied.
"Yeah, he looked like ...." Brittany laughed.
Amanda walked back to where Kenneth was.
"I didn't know you are an awesome actress." Kenneth chuckled.
"Oh someone's jealous, now then you know, be careful I might snatch away your shining light." Amanda teased.
"I don't mind if that will stop the whole fan thing." Kenneth said.

"Welcome to the La Vine Beach Resort." Coach announced liked a tour guide.
"As you know, our team done well in the competition, the Principal had decided to give you three days off from school and enjoyed your time here as the school vacation is starting and this is an early vacation for you." The coach continued.
Everyone went to their assigned hut.
"I guess it's not easy for you to get rid of me." Amanda said as she saw Brittany entered the room.
"Yeah, too bad huh?" Brittany replied.
They unpacked their stuffs and they went out to meet their clique, this time they were allowed to go anywhere they want.
"Hey Amanda, who's your roommate?" Mia mimicked the character Isabella in the cartoon 'Phineas and Ferb'.
"Watch too much tv? Brittany." Amanda laughed.
