TWELVE
'What?' His voice cracked and he sounded choked, all in that one word.
'You heard me.' My voice didn't waver once.
'W-why would you do that?'
'I'd rather eternal damnation then going insane from worry. I'm not gonna be a creepy cat lady.' I said.
Dexter shook his head, and laughed sadly. 'You are crazy! I-I can't believe you! How could you do that?'
'I did it to protect you! To protect all of you! I had to! I heard-' I clenched my jaw and shut up. 'I heard something, okay? I did what I had to, so don't you dare be ungrateful.'
'A-aren't you scared?'
'No.'
'At all?'
'No.' I looked away.
'You're gonna have Hell Hounds on your ass in what- how long?' He asked.
'Four months.' I stood up, mad again. 'And I know that! So I can do whatever the hell I want for my remaining months- if that means eating what I want, then so be it. If I want to find dad, if I want to hang out with you- then I will.'
'What about mum? And dad? And everybody else? Do they know?'
'Of course not!' I yelled.
'Don't yell at me!' He roared.
'I can if I want! I'm dying in four months to spend the rest of eternity in Hell! So I can do whatever I want!' I screamed.
'Like what?' He asked, deadly quiet. 'Kill some things? Find dad?'
'If I want to, yeah.' I snapped, grabbing my jacket off the coat rack.
'Where're you going?' He asked.
'Out.' I snapped, slamming the door behind me and pulling my hoodie on.
Walking up the pavement, I crossed over to my car and unlocked it silently, sliding into the drivers seat and kicking it into ignition (not literally kicking it, but you know what I mean). I blasted the music up, having LINKIN PARK screaming through the closed windows. Backing out of the car park, I started heading down the long road- to God knows where, 'coz I didn't know.
'See? I told you Bella isn't very fun to play with.' Gloria's voice drifted from nowhere, but I didn't jump. Still looking up the creatures on the internet, I turned slowly to see her standing in the doorway. My breathing stopped for a second as I saw her, still standing in Ruby's body.
'I know how much you loved her.' She smiled sadly. 'But Ruby didn't want to play. Maybe she will now?'
'Why couldn't you just leave Ruby alone?' I whispered. 'She never did anything to you- I doubt she even knew you existed.'
'You never told her about us?' Her eyes went black, and I shivered.
'Go away. I'm not playing with you. Go find someone else.'
'But I don't want to.' She pouted like a little girl. 'I'm in a big girl now- I want to play big girl games.'
'Who the Hell are you? What do you want with us?' I asked.
'I want to PLAY.' I was suddenly thrown back, stuck to the wall, feeling it break slightly behind me. 'See, I'm the new leader in town- all the demons love me. They know what's about to happen- the fight that's about to break out, with me at their head.'
'W-what are you talking about?' I groaned.
'So I want to play with as many mortals- preferably Hunters- as I can, before we kill them all.' She giggled.
I swallowed. 'What do you want me to do? If I...play- with you?'
She laughed and clapped her hands together, and I dropped.
Where the HELL was Bellatrix?
'We should go for a walk, and find somewhere nice to play. I don't like it here.' She looked around disdainfully.
'O-OK.' I stammered, standing up slowly as parts of the wall broke off and fell. 'Can I do something first?'
Her face went dark, black eyes flashing. 'If you try to run away, I'll have to stop you. I don't like mean people.'
'I-I won't, I promise! I just need to go to the bathroom quickly, OK?'
'OK.' She smiled again and let me walk past.
Shutting the door, I pulled some of the unused bandages out from under the sink and started writing with Bella's lipstick on the side of the sink.
'What are you doing, Dexter?' Gloria banged on the door loudly.
'I'm coming.' Putting everything back under the sink but leaving part of the bandage hanging out, I opened to door to see Ruby's smiling face, her eyes back to their usual blue.
'Let's go play!'
