forty-three:
Strapping Will down tight, I lifted up the most rusted, most painful-looking potential-weapon and thought of the best place to stab him in.
Will swallowed hard. 'T-that's cheating!'
'You're a demon.' I pointed out, trying not to growl. 'You cheat everyday.'
'W-what are you planning on doing with that?' He asked worriedly.
'Well, I was going to cut you slowly, painfully 'til the poor human you're possessing- not dies, but...until there's not enough left for you to possess. But then I thought- that's not good enough for you, and if I'm going to find Dexter I won't have enough time. So I'm gonna go plain and simple.'
He yawned. 'This seems worse than the actual torture.'
Clenching my jaw, I lifted his shirt and he shivered. I saw the bandages messily tied around the various bullet wounds, once again wondering why he just wouldn't possess someone else.
But I didn't care enough to ask right now.
'That DOES look painful.' I mulled to myself, loud enough for him to hear.
'Hey, what're you-' He started before I began to cut the bandages off roughly.
He yelled out, but immediately stopped as I pressed my bloodied fingers to his lips.
'Ssh. You want the psycho to hear you?' I mocked.
'Not particularly, no. I'm more scared of him than I am of you.'
'Let's change that, shall we?' I lifted the dagger high and plunged it deep into one of the infected bullet wounds, so deep I could feel it hit against the gurney.
He screamed loud, so loud it hurt, and when he opened his eyes again they were black and full of rage. 'You little bitch!' He hissed, spittle flying everywhere. 'I'm gonna kill you!'
'You wanna kill me?' I spat back. 'Get in line!'
Picking up other various tools, I plunged them all deep into the four other wounds.
'I think that might do me for the day. And it's a shame for you my brother's not here, because being the nerd he is, he knows the exorcism and could've put you out of your misery. But I don't. So you get to sit here for awhile.' As I said it, I got a much smaller knife and started carving a symbol into his stomach.
'Oh yeah?' He tried to leave the host, but as soon as he got close a massive tremor passed through his body and he fell back against the gurney.
'What the Hell?' He gasped, eyes going back to their normal grey.
'Symbol of Solomon, honey. Good luck leaving that corpse while you've got that symbol carved into your stomach.' I started to walk away, after first picking up my weaponry and jacket that had been pulled off while I was unconscious.
'Hey, hey wait, where're you goin'?' Will cried, trying to see me leave.
'I'm leaving. I have barely, maybe, sixteen hours left? I'm gonna enjoy it while I can.'
'You could always enjoy it here, with me.'
'Desperation is quite pathetic. I doubt you've gotten anywhere with it.' I said, standing in the doorway.
'You'd be surprised.' He smirked. 'C'mon, don't leave me here.'
I pretended to think about it. 'I dunno, I'm kinda happy with this set up.' I continued off as he called after me.
After passing down long corridors and past closed wings and rooms, I heard voices up ahead. But with what was going on in my head, I couldn't be sure if it was floors down, or right beside me.
'We've got barely twelve hours left. I think it might be-' I recognised Dexter's voice, and my heart raced.
'It's not.' Gloria said strongly. 'I know it.'
'What the...' I whispered to myself, slowing down behind a corner.
'Trixie!' Dexter suddenly yelled, and appeared in front of me. I jumped and almost fell back before he crushed me in a hug. Being far taller than me, my face was crushed into his shoulder and I couldn't breathe.
'Can't...breathe...' I gasped, and after a second he let me go.
'Are you OK? Why are you...why are you covered in blood?' He held me at arm's length and looked me up and down carefully, making sure the blood wasn't mine.
'I fell...and I got stabbed, but not deep enough to...take anything.' I looked down at my stomach, but the doctor had barely broken the skin.
'Wait, what're you doing here?'
Dexter swallowed hard and let me go. 'We can, uh,' He cleared his throat. 'Gloria found a way to help you.'
I clenched my jaw, and he immediately caught it. 'Trix, we don't have time for you to get into a fight with her.'
'I can if I want.'
'No, you can't.'
'Yes, I can.'
'No, you can't!'
'Yes, I can!' We were both shouting at the end.
'He's coming!' I heard Gloria whisper/shout down the hall. 'Get the lead out, let's go!'
'But I-'
'Bellatrix, we don't have time.' Dexter ordered, and for the third time in my entire life I was speechless. He grabbed my arm and hauled me along.
