Chapter 14

Nyle

My heart is racing and I am well beyond angry. I have to let Sean know how wrong he is. I have to keep my head together and not stoop to his level. Sel is following close behind me. I feel bad because she looks so nervous.

"Sel I won't do anything stupid. I promise. Even though I really want to. Now kiss me woman." I sign and smile. She looks relieved and stands on her tiptoes and kisses me on the lips. "Go eat your dinner baby." She nods and goes back to her room.

I go into the living room and they are watching a movie. I stare at Sean for a second. Gilbert and Mario look at me with concern in their eyes.

"Sean you need to apologize to Sel now!"

"I am not apologizing for shit Nyle! What I said was true."

"You hurt her! I care about her man." I sign. I see Gilbert get off the couch quickly.

"What did you do to hurt my cousin Sean!" Gilbert signs.

"I told her the truth Gilbert." Sean signs.

"Who's truth. Yours?" I sign.

"This won't work Nyle. She is hearing and she doesn't belong in our community."

"You told her that Sean?" Gilbert signs.

"I sure did."

"How dare you come in my home and treat my family like that."

"I am sorry Gilbert but it has nothing to do with you."

"The hell it doesn't. You will apologize to her now." Gilbert goes to Sel's room and goes in.

"Nyle what about Christine and the Gala? You promised to take her." Sean signs.

"Not happening Sean."

"Why are you going to take Selena?" he signs and he rolls his eyes.

"None of your concern but I had planned on asking her."

"You need to be with Christine. She has been there for you from day one!"

"No I don't."

"Why? She loves you so much Nyle."

"You really want to know why Sean." I sign and he nods. " We will never be together ever again because she abused me. She would slap, kick, punch and bite me on almost a daily basis. The last time she hit me was two days ago."

He looks back at me in complete horror.
