Nyle
We were released from the hospital. The babies are transported by trolley while I push Sel in a wheel chair. We get to our waiting SUV. The paparazzi are clambering for the first photo. I knew this would happen. I am glad that the babies are covered up with blankets.
I open the back door. I make sure the babies are buckled into their car seats correctly. I then help Sel into the car quickly as I can. I had everyone wait at the house, we wanted to do this on our own. Once they leave it will just be us and the babies.
I get into the car and looked into my review mirror. I see our babies sound asleep and and I begin to tear up.
"Are you okay?' Sel signs to me.
"Yes, I am more than okay. I am happy." I sign back.
I begin to drive us home. I hold Sel's hand the entire way. Every so often I peek in the mirror checking to make sure the babies are still asleep. Sel looks over at me with an amused smile.
"What?" I sign.
"Baby, you can drive a little faster." She signs smirking at me.
"Not a chance, everyone that I love is in this car."
She laughs and puts my hand to her lips to kiss it. Dr. Young says no sex for six weeks, this is going to be tough. She looks at me as if she could read my mind.
"It will go by fast. The babies will take up a lot of our time," She signs.
"I know, but I can't keep my hands off you. I love you so much."
We finally make it home. Everyone is there to meet us. They decorated the house with pink and blue banners that said "Welcome Home Noelia and Noah."
We walked into the house and my brothers and Sel's brother were waiting patiently waiting to meet the babies. They each take turns holding the babies. Our mothers make a huge spread of food. Even making extra to freeze. They are a God send.
Sel goes to take a nap. I put all her breast milk into the fridge. She showed me what to do with the breast milk before she went to take a nap. Our moms want to take over but I want to do this on my own. I put the babies in their nursery. There are two cribs but every time I put Noah in his crib he cries. Once I put him in with his sister, he settles down instantly. I turn on the baby monitor. Let's see if this deaf-friendly monitor really works I go down stairs to finish eating.
"Go take a nap, Nyle," Mom signs.
"No, I need to do this on my own."
"Okay, but aren't you tired?"
"A bit. But I'm okay."
As I finish eating, my Apple Watch vibrates. I look down and it says the baby is crying. Wow the monitor actually works. I grab the breast milk and warm water and head up. Noelia is having a fit but Noah is sound asleep. The breast milk is warm. I sit on the glider and feed my baby girl. She wraps her tiny hand around my finger. This moment right here is what life is all about.
I wouldn't change this for anything in the world.
