Mark's POV
All I could see was darkness. All I could feel was pain. My head ached with every mysterious noise. It's been like this for the past week? Day? Hour? Who knows, I could've been here for years. Wait, where is here?
My head spun as I started to fall into another timeless sleep.
This time, I woke up in a hospital. The smell of sterile cleaning supplies and ill people filled the air. An aroma of depression was lit into the air. A nurse that was checking the UV in my arm sprang from an emotionless pose to attention when she saw my eyes open.
"Doctor, he's awake!" She screamed down the hall.
I somehow always end up in a hospital. No matter how hard I try.
The doctor stepped into the room. His blue scrubs blending with the rest of his staff members that had joined him in my room to do more tests.
"You were out for quite a while Mark. Almost six days." He said writing something down on a clipboard.
"How did I end up here this time?" My eyes darted around the room to a bright bouquet, full of vibrant colors stood in a vase on my side table. A note was attached. I couldn't make out what it said yet. My glasses at the time were sitting next to the vase.
"You were knocked unconscious by something. Coffee was also spilt all over you, explaining the burns on your skin. Not as severe as you would think however. Glad you're awake though." My head filled with a slight memory of what happened that night.
"How did I get here?" The doctor looked up from his clipboard, a smirk on his face.
"A young boy about your age. He had green hair. He brought you those flowers." His gaze returned to the board. My heart fluttered at the thought of Jack taking care of me but fear struck me at the realization that I had been out for a couple of days.
"Jack?" I asked raising a brow making sure I wasn't blushing.
"I believe so. Carrie could you get a hold of that boy that brought Mark these flowers please?" A woman, probably Carrie came to attention and went to call Jack.
"I'll be back soon Mark."
"Ok doc." He left the room, a smirk still on his face.
I looked back at the bouquet and remembered the note that had been stuck under a flower so no one would see it. I plucked the note from the vase, observing the mysterious letter given to me by my roommate.
The paper was a simple piece of lined notebook paper. it was folded neatly and had a few stains from the flowers. I slowly unfolded the note and read in my mind what it said. My face filled with confusion as I blankly stared at the note.
I'm sorry
What? What was Jack sorry for? Why was he sorry? At that moment, I heard footsteps enter my room. The green hair and skinny jeans screamed out exactly who it was. My heart was uplifted from the depression it had been stuck in for the last couple of days but still, something was off.
His shirt was wrinkled and bags were under his eyes, which were extremely puffy and red. He slowly walked towards me, his eyes tearing up more and more as he approached my bedside.
"Are you ok Jack? What are you sorry for?" He broke down on the floor. The room filled with the hushed sobs of Jack. I sat in my bed and stared at him. What was wrong?
"Jack, please, tell me what's wrong. I need to know." He looked at me, tears filling his blue eyes.
"I-I-I made a huge mistake. I-I'm s-sorry M-Mark." He covered his face with his hands. He was trying to hide.
"Hey it's ok. Whatever you did couldn't be as bad as you'd think. I promise I won't be mad at you ok?" I reached out my hand and held his, but as soon as I did, he pulled me in for a hug. It hurt but I wasn't going to complain.
He stayed there, holding on to me as tightly as he could. What had he done?
"Mark, uhm guess what day it is?" I thought in my head for a second. It was Valentine's day wasn't it?
"It's Valentine's day. At least that's what day I think it is."
"Mark?" He asked tears rolling from his eyes onto my hospital gown.
"Yeah Jack?"
"Will you be my Valentine?" My stomach dropped to my toes and fluttered right back up again. I started to blush madly.
I smiled "Of course."
A/N This was an incredible chapter to write and you'll all hopefully love my next chapter a lot too.
"I Found" Amber Run was running through my mind as I wrote this. That song is amazing.
Thank you so much!
