Jack's POV
I woke up to snoring. Quiet, steady, snoring. A tuft of red hair was on my lap. He was peaceful I brushed hair off his face. I slowly moved his head off my lap so I could get up.
I walked over to my half of the room and sat on my bed. My clock read the time 5:27 am. It was way too early for me to be awake. Rubbing my eyes, I drearily rose again to grab clothes for today. I still really hate these slacks. I walked for the bathroom but first, I checked if Mark was still asleep. he had a rough day so I thought it was good for him to sleep more. After all, he did something I haven't had the confidence to do. I'll admit, I am a little jealous of his confidence.
I stepped into the bathroom we shared and got dressed, still hating the tan slacks they had us wear. I put on my shirt and tucked it into my pants. Putting on my belt, tightening it perfectly.
There was a knock on the bathroom door followed by Mark's voice. "Jack, you in there?"
"Yeah, one second, I'll be out." my Irish accent was heavy.
"Ok buddy." I smiled at that. He was such a dork sometimes.
I finished getting ready and exited the bathroom. Mark, clothes in hand rushed in and closed the door behind him.
After a few minutes, the water turned on and I could hear him singing. "Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance with the stars up above in your eyes," Damn he was good at singing. I put down my phone so I could focus more on the singing. "A fantabulous night to make romance 'neath the cover of October skies, and all the leaves on the trees are falling to the sounds of the breezes that blow and I'm trying to please to the calling of your heart strings that play soft and low, and all the night's magic seems to whisper in hush and all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush, can I just have one more moondance with you my love?" The singing soon cut off to hums as the water was shut off. I grabbed my phone again and scrolled through my notifacations, pretending I wasn't listening to him sing.
H soon stepped out of the bathroom, his slacks and shirt on as well. His hair dripping wet still.
"Did you like my singing?" My face started to get hot.
"Yes." My face was now humorously red at this point, making Mark smirk a little bit.
"Haha I knew it. Betcha forgot I was in choir didn't you?" His smile was tainted with flirtation. I couldn't help but smile at him. "Guess I did." At this point, we were standing close to each other smirking until Mark looked at his watch.
"Oh shit, we're gonna be late. Let's go." We zoomed out of the door and to our class.
The first few classes went on quickly until I hit fourth period. Ms. Gribly was a nice teacher but hell, she was boring. In her class I sat by Mark and Ken, a kid with the average grade C, just didn't turn in his assignments on time or for that matter, at all.
Mark and I were desk partners for this class and that was perfectly fine with me. Ms. Gribly was starting her lecture on Germany in WWII which wasn't as boring as her usual lectures. Mark was focusing surprisingly a lot on today's lesson. He almost never paid that much attention in this class. Worksheets were handed out afterwards so the teacher could see what we've learned from today's lesson. I was quick to fill out mine. Mark on the other hand, didn't even have the first question done yet.
"Hey Mark, do you need help?" I looked at him concerned.
"No I'll be fine. Thanks though. I'm just thinking about yesterday. Will you sit with me at lunch? Otherwise I think I'd eat alone." I gave him an apologetic face. "Of course Mark. Anything for you buddy."
I turned in my work then started on my homework from geometry class earlier in the morning. Mark had now finished his work as well and he looked more happy and content as he had before.
The bell finally rang, releasing us to our lunch break. I finished packing my things away and put on my backpack, looking at the board before a hand was intertwined in mine.
"Let's go Jackaboy!" Mark rushed me out of the classroom and to the commons.
