Sitting in the backseat, Jihyo wrapped her arms around Gary's waist as he cycled to her house.
"Thanks for telling me that," she said.
"About what?" He asked.
"That you like me." A smile spread across her face as she reply him but Gary wasn't able to see it since he had to cycle and keep an eye of what was ahead of him.
"Then should I thank you for accepting me?" He asked. When Jihyo didn't response to his question, he briefly turned behind to look at her and their eyes met.
"Why are you keeping quiet?" He questioned and turn to face the front.
She didn't reply him immediately. "I've actually like you from the start," she finally said, "but I don't know if you felt the same as I do so I kept it in."
"In fact, I decided to let go of my feelings for you.""But you can't now." He interrupted.
"I'm glad I can't do that now," she chuckled.
He felt her tightening her grip around his waist and a smile appeared on his face. He continued to cycled on the bridge, following the path along the Han river and finally arrived at her place.
"Thanks for sending me back," Jihyo said as she got down from the bicycle.
"Are you just going to keep saying 'thank you' to me?" Gary gave her an amused huff.
"I only said it twice." She argued.
"Thrice." He corrected her.
"Are you really that petty?" She asked with a slight pout.
Gary shook his head in amusement and glanced at her bandaged wrist and then look at her. "You should go and get some rest now."
Jihyo smiled and nodded her head. She almost blurted out another 'thank you' until she realised that Gary was staring at her with his eyebrows raised. He was silently hinting to her not to say it and she somehow managed to get that hint.
"I'm going up now. Have a good rest too, oppa." She entered the building and pressed the lift button. She turned to wave at him, just before she step inside the lift.
Gary left only after the lift went up to the 20th storey. He return to his apartment after sending Jihyo back to her house. He parked the bicycle at the balcony and slid the door shut before going to the fridge to retrieve a can of soda.
"Get me a soda." Rye Il shouted from the living room.
Gary grabbed an extra can and sat himself down on the couch. "What are you playing?" He asked as put the extra can on the table.
"Portal 2. Why? You wanna join?" Rye Il questioned.
"Can't I?" Gary grabbed the controller and entered into the game.
"But you don't even like to play this," Rye Il replied.
Gary kept his focus on the game. At the same time, he was contemplating whether to break the news to Rye Il, knowing very well how he would react.
The game ended when he finally made the decision to tell him. "Jihyo and I are together." Gary said quietly.
Rye Il turned and stared at him. He thought he heard him wrongly. "We got together today." Gary continued. Rye Il's lips straightened to a thin line. The silence hanging in the air was filled with the music from the game. Without saying anything, Rye Il put the game controller on the floor and walked back to his room, and shut the door with a loud slam.
Gary look at the TV and then at the game controller that Rye Il left on the floor. He pressed the power off button on the TV remote control to switch off the TV. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, before letting out a sigh. He knew that Rye Il would react this way when he decided to tell him about it.
Though Rye Il didn't say anything, he knew clearly that he was angry and at the same time, felt betrayed. He would feel that way if Rye Il was the one in a relationship with Jihyo.
He got up from the couch after awhile and tossed the empty can into the dustbin and kept the extra can of soda back into the fridge before going back to his room.
