Fifty Five

Two hours before the start of the baseball match, Gary brought Jihyo to the clinic for another monthly routine check up. They were finally going to find out the gender of their babies.

Jihyo lied down on the bed, and lifted her shirt above her belly. The gynae smeared a gel on her belly and rolled the transducer over her belly.

There were smiles on their faces just by hearing the babies' heartbeats.
Jihyo and Gary stared intently at the monitor, taking in the amazing moment of seeing their precious little ones. Their face features, and their little arms and legs. Gary was holding her hand throughout.

"Do you want to know their gender?" The gynae asked.

"Of course." They both replied at the same time.

"Alright," the gynae said. She moved the transducer around Jihyo's belly, trying to locate the pelvic of one of the twin. "Baby A is a girl," she told them and continued moving the transducer against her belly. She angled the transducer at various angles, trying to get a good look of the other twin.

A smile tugged at her lips when she finally managed to spot it. "Congratulations, Baby B is a boy." The gynae finally said.

"A girl and a boy?" Gary couldn't hide his excitement. When he looked at Jihyo, he saw tears slipping down her cheeks. He helped her up from the bed and tenderly wiped away the tears with his thumbs. 

"Why are you crying?" He asked, sounding amused.

She shook her head and simply smiled at him. 

Given that the babies were healthy, and growing at the right speed, there wasn't a need for another check up until eight weeks later.

They left the clinic and made their way to the stadium, which was an hour drive away.

The parking lots outside the stadium were full by the time they reached. Gary had to park his car at the basement carpark of a shopping mall. Thankfully, it takes them only five minutes by foot to reach the stadium from the mall. 

"Oppa, let's get some hotdog buns." Jihyo pointed to the food truck that was parked near the entrance of the stadium.

Gary purchased two sets of hotdog buns which comes with a drink each, and they stood in line, waiting to enter the stadium. With all the security checks going on, it took a few minutes before it finally reached their turn. They gave the tickets to the man, whom stamped a circle on both tickets and then returned it to them. Jihyo's bag was checked for any suspicious items and once cleared, they were allowed to enter the stadium.

They find their seats and settled down. Ten minutes later, the game started. Gary was excited to watch his favourite team play. As for Jihyo, she was only there to accompany him. She never understood the fun in watching baseball games but Gary is a huge fan of it.

To her, as long as he's happy, she's happy.

They had already finished their food minutes into the game. During the seventh-inning stretch, the much awaited kiss cam segment was on. The camera panned towards the crowds, and zoomed in on several couples. 

Jihyo gasps and covered her mouth with both hands upon seeing their faces on the screen. The other spectators begin cheering and chanted, "kiss, kiss, kiss."

"Guess we have to," Gary said to her as she turned to look at him.

He cupped her face with both hands and leaned forward, kissing her on the lips. The crowd erupted into cheers again, this time, even louder than before. Gary pulled away, and Jihyo could feel herself blushing from having to kiss him in front of so many people.

On the cue of the emcee, the camera panned away from them to the field, marking the end of the kiss cam segment. The players were already on the field, getting ready to resume the game. 

Another hour went by, and it wasn't easy to tell which team was winning since their scores were tied. Just before the final whistle was blown, Gary's favourite team scored another homerun, pulling in a final score of 9 - 8.

He jumped up from his seat and cheered along with the other fans as the moment of his favourite team being crowned as the champion unfolded in front of him.

"Today was truly a happy day," Gary said as he walked out of the bathroom, with a towel hanging around his neck , and climbed onto the bed. He let out a contented sigh as he leaned against the headboard, next to Jihyo.

"It was a good day," Jihyo smiled and said but her smile faded as quickly as it appeared. She bent over, her hand barely touching the calf of her leg, and let out a soft gasp.

"Leg cramps?" She nodded, with a grimace.

Gary shifted over and placed a pillow under her legs, elevating them slightly to ease the pressure. He gently massaged her legs, rubbing her right calf and then her left. After some time, she could feel the tension in her muscles relaxing. 

"What should we name the twins?" He asked.

"Haven't you already decided?" She replied. She tapped him, and pointed to her lower back which was aching slightly.

"But you didn't agree to it." He shifted over again, and said. He placed his hands slightly above her waistline and pressed both thumbs against her lower back, massaging it in a circular motion.

She closed her eyes as she feel a slight relief from the aching pain. "I've never objected to it." She mumbled.

"Hyo Yeon for our daughter, and Yeon Jun for our son?" She nodded again.

He stopped massaging, and then wrapped his arms around her waist. His hands resting against her rounded abdomen.

"Thank you for today." He whispered to her, and kissed the nape of her neck.
