Gary looked into the mirror and adjusted his bow tie. They had half an hour to get ready before they had to leave for the wedding banquet. Jihyo already had her makeup on. She picked out two dresses from her wardrobe and stared at them, unable to decide which outfit to wear.
"Yeobo, which should I wear? This, or this?" She held up them up by the hangers to show him the two dresses - a white halter dress and a navy blue off-shoulder dress.
He looked at the dresses, studying them carefully while rubbing his chin. Then, he lifted his eyes to hers and smiled. "You look beautiful in whatever you wear." He finally said. Her lips curved into a shy smile at his unexpected comment. Though they have been together for five years, her heart still flutters whenever he say something romantic or sweet out of the blue.
"Stop fooling around. Pick one." She said, pretending to sound impatient.
He stepped forward and pointed to the one in her left hand. "The white one," he answered and as she turned to look at it, he sneaked a kiss on her cheek.
She jerked back, startled, but broke into a wide smile seconds later. "I'll go and change." She caressed his cheek and kiss him lightly before going to the bathroom.
When she came out, Gary had already took out a pair of nude shade heels and placed it by the shoe rack.
"How do you know I'm going to wear this pair?" She asked, looking at him in awe.
"Just a guess," he shrugged his shoulders and looked at her.
Jihyo put on the heels and they were ready to leave.
There wasn't much traffic on the road and they were able to reach there in twenty minutes. Gary passed his car key over to the parking valet, and then entered the hotel with Jihyo.
They met Rye Il outside the ballroom and while Gary spend some time chatting with him, Jihyo left to find Hye Won.
With a bouquet of flowers in her hand, she headed towards the waiting room and knocked on the door that was partially opened and went in.
Still getting her makeup touched up, Hye Won looked out from the corner of her eyes and greeted her with a smile. Jihyo quietly stand behind Hye Won, staring at her reflection in the mirror as the makeup artist do her job.
She had a French braid going from the side of her head to the back, then twisted into a bun and tightly secured with a pearl and crystal haircomb.
Once the makeup artist was done, Hye Won stand up and turned around to face Jihyo before giving her a hug.
"Congratulation, unnie!" Jihyo whispered then pulled away to pass her the flowers.
"Gomawo! You look so pretty!" She gushed.
Jihyo smiled and replied, "not as pretty as the bride!"
"Since when did it all change?" Jihyo asked. They were sitting on the sofa, having a heart to heart talk and she've been wanting to find out how did Rye Il and her ended up together.
Hye Won blushed and looked at the ring on her finger, pondering for a moment and then raised her head.
"It happened the year you got married. The day of your wedding to be exact." She smiled as she recounted the memory.
Flashback
They were inside Rye Il's car. He offered to send her back home after the wedding ceremony ended. Rye Il wrapped his fingers tightly around the steering wheel and glanced at Hye Won as he drove.
She was leaning her head against the window, with her eyes closed but he could tell that she wasn't sleeping.
"Hye Won," he called out to her.
