Ch. 21

Skylar's POV
We finally got to the movies. We decide to buy snacks before hand and smuggle them in. "Two tickets for Bad Santa" Marcus said to the lady. She kept smiling at him. I couldn't help but get jealous which is weird because I never get jealous. She finally gave us the tickets and I yanked Marcus away from the booth. "What was that all about?" "I just really wanted to go and see the movie." "Right...". I knew he didn't believe me but I don't care. He's mine. "Let's get popcorn!" He said. "But we bought all this candy." "How can you watch a movie without any popcorn?" "Fine. But one big one so we can share." He nodded and we stood in line. The couple in front of us looked very familiar. The girl turned around and I realized it was Maggie. The boy she was with was Alex. "So you guys official now?" I asked smirking. "Well I wouldn't say official but we are together so yeah" "What are you guys seeing?" "Bad Santa" "Cool! So are we!" "Maybe we could sit together". I looked up at Marcus. "I don't mind". So we turned it into a double date. Check that of the list. We got the popcorn and sat down. We were in the back so we laughed really loud. Not a lot of people knew it was us. Once the movie ended we decide to get a late night snack. Yeah we eat to much but I don't car. We went to TGIF and got all appetizers. We were all having a really go time. Maggie and Alex really seemed happy together. I was happy for them. Marcus seemed to be enjoying himself too. Everything was going well. Then hell came running through the door. I noticed that Marcus got really quiet. He kept staring at me like he didn't want me to notice something. I looked at the door and saw the two people I never wanted to see ever again.
Marcus's POV
Jayden and Macy. They just walked in the restaurant. Crap. I saw that Sky hadn't seen them yet. They were gonna ruin our night. Sky was still laughing at Alex who was making weird noises. She stared at me. I tried to show no emotion but she saw right through me. She looked at the door. When she saw them walk in I could tell her heart dropped. She sunk her head trying not to be seen. Jayden saw her and walked over. "Hey Sky" he said nervously. "It's Skylar" "Sorry. Hi Skylar. How have you've been?" "You mean after you cheated on me with my best friend?" She mumbled under her breath. "Huh?" "Nothing. I have been great." She told him bluntly. Her fist were balling up under the table. I grabbed her hand trying to calm her down. She looked at me. Her face was a mixture of anger and hurt. Then a girl walked over. I assumed it was Macy. "Sky! It's been so long. After senior year we lost touch!" "Maybe I didn't want to keep in touch." Macy ignored that last remark. "Well since y'all are here, may we join you?" "Umm..." Sky interrupted me. "We were actually just about to leave." "No we... OW!" Maggie was about tell on us but Sky kicked her. "Oh. Well maybe we can catch up sometime." "I doubt it. Nice running into you. Bye" Sky said really quickly. She paid the waitress and we left. "Want to explain what that was about?" Maggie and Alex were confused. "That was my ex and ex-best friend. I found them dry humping in the courtyard my senior year. It had been going on for a while. They would always act like they hated each other. Guess that's why I didn't suspect anything" Sky explained to them. Maggie looked so sorry for her. It was so weird. She's just like them. But I guess it's okay. We decide to get ice cream since our date got interrupted. "I'm sorry about that." I said trying to make Sky feel better. "It's not your fault. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time." She hugged trying to prove she was okay but I knew she wasn't. We got the ice cream and walked along the beach. Alex and Maggie were playing in the water. She and I sat on the sand. I felt good. It cool and there was a light breeze. Sky started to get chilly so I give her my coat. "This is cheesy" "I'm sorry. I'll just take it..." "NO! I like cheesy" she said yanking the jacket back. She finally smiled. "There's that lovely smile" I said. She leaned on me. "You always know how to make me feel better" she said. I'm glad. We all headed back to my car since Alex and Maggie ubered here. Before we left they were both sleep in the back seat. Sky took a picture on Snapchat and captioned it That Couple Life. They were so cute together. We decided to let them stay with us since it was really late. We had to carry them inside because we couldn't get them to wake up. Sky was surprisingly strong. She carried Alex and laid him in the couch without my help. "Damn girl. How much you lift?" I said being funny. "Shut up" she said laughing. We weren't tired so we watched a movie. Of course she wanted to watch something with a superheroes in it. We finally decide on Avengers 2. I think she's seen it to many times because she was repeating all of the lines. I couldn't help but laugh. I couple hours later I checked the clock. It read 4:56. Damn. We've been up  forever. Or should I say I have. I looked at Sky a she was dead sleep. She was laying on my chest and wrapped her hands around my waist. She was smiling. 'I wonder what she is dreaming about?' I thought to myself. I get up managing not to wake her and went downstairs. Alex and Maggie were cuddling on the couch. I was really quiet. I tripped over Baridi but he didn't whine. I went into the fridge when I heard a loud bang from upstairs. I ran up there to make sure Sky was alright. When I got there I saw her standing there with her hand on her side. I looked at her side and there was blood. She just stood there staring at me. Then she finally spoke. "Help me" and then she collapsed. I ran to her a picked her up and rushed downstairs. Alex and Maggie were up now. I guess they heard the bang too. "What happened?" Alex asked me in a panic. "I don't know. I heard a bang and I ran upstairs to make sure Sky was okay and when I got there she was standing bleeding!" I said. I was freaking out. We got big the car and went to the hospital. I sat in the back with Sky while Maggie drove. We got there and I rushed in. "HELP!" A doctor instantly ran over to me. "What happened?" I explained to him what happened. They got a stretcher and I placed her on top. I tried to go back with them but two really big nurse dudes held me back. I wasn't strong enough to get loose so I stopped fighting them. I had been three hours since the went back there with Sky. Finally the doctor came back. He explained to me she had been shot. It took them awhile to remove the pieces of the bullet and stop the building. Then the weirdest thing happened. The doctor said my name. I never told him Sky's name let alone mine. He kept saying. "Marcus...Marcus...Marcus..."
