Ch. 33

Skip 4 months

Skylar's POV
Its been 4 months since the wedding and life has been progressing on. I look like a pear with legs with this huge baby bump. Man it is hard being pregnant. I'm always so tired and hungry. But to be honest I'm always like that. Just 10 times worse. Marcus has been so helpful. I sometimes feel bad because he never hangs out with Lucas anymore. I know it's not my fault but still. Star has been popping up everyday. She says she wants to be there when I go into labor. She's crazy but she's my crazy. Her and Michael are trying to have a baby too. I'm so excited! Today was a chill day. I made Marcus go hang with Lucas since Dari was in town. Star was coming over her usual routine. We got and advance copy of our movie. I know we had already seen it but it was so good. I invited Rashaad because he's been dying to see the movie too. Star came in. I forgot she had a key. "Wassup Shrek?" "Did you just seriously call me shrek?" "Yes! You look like him." "I don't think the twins would appreciate you calling their mother and ogre." "I didn't. I call their mother shriek." She said with a smirk on her face. I shook my head. "Speaking of twins how are my lovely ladies this fine afternoon?" She said rubbing my stomach. It sounds weird but she's my best friend so it's okay if we're weird. "They are hungry. Did you bring food?" "Girl did I?" She showed me bags full of food from my favorite places. "Did I mention I love you?" I said. "No but I'll take the gesture." I ignored her once I got a plate full of food. "You got enough?" She said pointing to my plate. "Hey! I'm not just eating for me anymore. I have two little girls who have the same appetite as me so don't judge me." I defended myself. "Whatever. When is your brother gonna be here? I wanna start the movie." I shrugged. To be honest I haven't heard from Rashaad since he said he was coming. Just out of the blue he texted me and was like 'hey I'm coming over tomorrow.' And I was like 'okay. See ya soon.' I never heard from him after that. I was beginning to worry. I called my mom and she said that Rashaad left about an hour ago. Now I was really worried. "I'm sure he's okay. Maybe traffic or something." "If you say so. But if he's not here in the next hour I'm going out looking for him." "I'll go look for him. You should stay here just in case he comes." I nodded. She grabbed her keys and left. I really hope Rashaad is okay.

Rashaad's POV
I was headed to Sky's house when I got stuck in traffic. Great she's gonna be worried. I just to put the icing on the cake my phone is dead and Tristen took the car charger. I'm not a patient person so I decide to take a back road. In hindsight I should've just waited but me being an impulsive teenage boy I decide to ignore my better judgement. I turned down this dirt road. I was really dark but it was only 6:00. Stupid time changes. I drove til I came to a dead end. Even better. I got out to see if I could figure out where I was. I looked around but found nothing. Then I heard foot steps. "Hello?" I yelled out. Nobody answered. Then these shadowy figures popped out. "Uhh... hi. I'm lost. I'm trying to get to my sister's house. Do you think you could help me?" But they didn't speak. Just kept walking towards me. Why is it I keep attracting people like this. "Look i don't want any trouble. I'm just trying to find my way." "To bad boy. You found trouble." The biggest figure said to me. He grabbed my neck and threw me against the car. I grunted. "Look. I'm sorry if I offended you guys. Just let me go and I'll keep my mouth shut." "Too late." The other guys pulled out knives and bats and started beating. For some reason it didn't hurt like the first time. I mean yes it hurt but I didn't care. This always happens. I started to think this was what I was meant for. The world's personal punching bag. I was so deep in thought I didn't notice that I wasn't getting beat up anymore. I laid on the ground til someone picked me up. "Rashaad! Bro wake up!" I couldn't tell who it was. I blacked out.

Marcus's POV
Sky made me go hand out with Lucas. Again. I didn't argue because I knew I would lose. It wasn't a complete lost. Dari was in town so we got to do some fun stuff. We were leaving trampoline park and I hurt clanking behind the building. I told Lucas and Dari to wait for me while I went to check it out. When I walked back there I saw this group of guys beating someone up. I called Lucas and Darius and they came running back. Darius started to get the guys off of the boy. Lucas helped him. I ran over to the boy to realize it was Rashaad. "Rashaad! Bro wake up!" No response. "Lucas! Darius! We got get him to the hospital! This is Sky's brother!" They helped me get him into the car. Darius sped his way to the hospital. I was debating on whether to call Skylar. I know he's her brother and all but she doesn't need this kinda stress right now. She could do whatever it is called when girls have babies. I don't know what it's called. "Are you gonna call Skylar? I know you said this was her brother." "I don't know if I should." "What?! Of course you should call her. She would be crushed if something happened to him and she didn't know about it. Plus she would be very pissed that you knew and didn't tell her." "Yeah your right." I got my phone and called her. She picked up instantly.
Marcus- hey babe.
Sky- hey. Have you heard from Rashaad?
Marcus- that's why I called you
Sky- what do you mean
Marcus- well I was hanging with my brothers when I heard some noise coming from behind a building. I got back there and I saw a gang beating Rashaad. He's pretty banged up. We are at the hospital.
There was silence on her end.
Marcus- Skylar?
Sky- thank you for helping him. I'm on my way.
Marcus- anything for you. Be careful
Sky- I will. See you soon
She then hung up. I don't know how she's gonna react to seeing him like this. His face was almost unrecognizable. We waited for like 30 minutes until Skylar ran in. "Is he okay?" She asked. I paused. "Marcus please say something." She started crying. "That's the thing. I don't know. Doctors said they would try everything they could." She then broke down. "Look babe. I understand your hurting but you've got to calm down." But she kept screaming. I called a nurse and asked her for help. "I can give her a mild sedative. It will make her relax and it won't affect the baby." I nodded. I held her still while the nurse injected her with some green liquid. She stopped crying and melted in my arms. "Sky are you okay?" "I want to scream but I can't." "Good. Just relax. I'm sure Rashaad will be fine."
