Ch. 24

Skylar's POV
Today was the gathering. We decide to order a bouncy house. I called my dad and asked him to come earlier so he could started cooking. My mom posted the date online so a lot of my family was coming. Thanks a lot mom. Marcus's family was coming too so it wasn't all bad. I got up and went to decorate the backyard. I got some streamers and balloons from the garage. Marcus came up to help me. "About time you dragged your lazy ass out here!" I said sarcastically. He scoffed. "What do you need me to do Miss Bossy?" "Well for one I need you to stop touching my waist. It's distracting!" "Oh you mean stop this?" He started grazing his hands softly against my hips. I rolled my eyes back. "Marcus seriously. I don't need a reminder about what happened Thursday night!" I said while moaning. He smiled and pulled my back to his front. "Oh I'm not gonna do anything. Yet." He whispered in my ear. I pushed him off and laughed. We went back to decorating. The doorbell had rung. I went to go get it. "Daddy!" "Hey puddin. I came early liked you asked." "Thanks! The grill is out back. I'll be back there in a minute." "Okay." He walked back and greeted Marcus. I went upstairs to change into my bathing suit. It was a mint green bikini.

I put some white high waisted shorts over my bottoms. I went back outside and some more people showed up. My cousin Jennifer showed up. "Jenny! It's so great to see again." I ran up to her and hugged her. "Awww. It's great to see you too lil cuz." We started talking and Marcus's brothers showed up. "Who's the tall boy with the blonde streaks?" Jenny asked staring at Darius. "Who Darius? That's Marcus's older brother. I can introduce you to him." She got a nervous look on your face. I motioned Marcus to come over with Dari. "Jennifer this is Darius. Darius this is my cousin Jennifer" I said. "It's nice to meet you. I guess good looks run in Skylar's family" Darius said being a flirt. Jennifer blushed. "Oh wow. Thank you. It's nice to meet you too" Jenny said giggling a lot. Me and Marcus walked away while they were talking. "Well aren't you a good little matchmaker?" "I got you to like me didn't I?" "Nope. I don't like you. I love you." He said kissing my cheek.  Everyone was finally here except Lucas. "Is Lucas coming?" "Yeah... he should be here... real soon" Marcus said laughing in between words. I was suspicious. When him and Lucas start scheming together someone is bound to get covered in something. I turned on the stereo system. Most of the kids got up and started dancing. Marcus and his brothers started doing their thing. Everyone started cheering. Me, Jennifer, Damien and some other people playing in the pool. Marcus and Lucas had snuck up behind me and started spraying everyone. We started screaming. "Ayeeee! Gotcha!" They both yelled in unison. "Don't be to sure about that!" I grabbed both of their ankles and pulled them in. "SKY NOOOOO!" But it was too late. I had already yanked them in. Everyone started laughing. They came up and looked at me. "Not cool!" "Hey you started it." "Yo! Who wants to play chicken?!" Rashaad yelled out. Everyone though it was a good idea. I was with Marcus. Jennifer paired up with Dari. Cyrus was with his girlfriend. Rashaad paired up with Damien. And everyone else found a partner. We decide to do a tournament. First was Cyrus vs Dari. Jennifer pushed on Cyrus's girlfriend and they both fell back into the water. Next was Me against Damien. I wasn't that hard for me to pin him because I figured out all of his weaknesses from when we were younger. "No fair!" "Don't be a sore loser bro" Rashaad said getting from under him. Everyone else gave up so it was Dari and Jenny versus Me and Marcus. Everyone gathered around to watch. My mom blew the whistle and we started. Jenny tried to do the same thing she did to Cyrus but it didn't work. Marcus went behind them so I pushed her back and they fell forward. "And the winners are Sky and Marcus!" Rashaad said in his commentator voice. "Foods ready!" My dad yelled. We all went to a table. Everyone was eating and talking to the other family members. When everyone started wrapping up, I stood on top of the table. "Hello everyone. I know everyone is enjoying themselves but there is  a reason we invited all of you here." I reached down a pulled Marcus up to me. "Me and Marcus have been dating for about four years and two weeks ago..." I paused for dramatic affect. "Marcus asked me to marry him and I said yes!" Immediately everyone started cheering and applauding. I felt so happy that everyone was happy for me. When everyone started to leave, they all came up to me and said congratulations personally. My dad was the last to leave. "Thank you so much Daddy!" "Anything for my baby girl. I still wanna talk to about your wedding details. I will paying so I want to make sure everything is to your liking." "We will. How about lunch on Thursday?" "That's perfect. See you then." He kissed my forehead and left. That went very well for my first barbecue.
Marcus's POV
I would say tonight was success. I got a call from Jake. He asked how everything wen and I told him it was perfect. Next to Lucas, Jake was my best friend. He was always there for me. After I talk to him I went back outside to help Skylar clean up. "I'm glad we did this." "Me too." The radio was still playing. It started playing slow music. I walked up behind her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my head against hers. We started dancing slowly. She reached behind me and placed her hand on my neck. She closed her eyes and smiled. She turned around and placed her arms around my neck. She was staring  at me. "What?" I asked. "It's just every time I look into your eyes I fall for you all over again." I laughed. "What's so funny?" "You call me cheesy but what about you?" "We can both be cheesy. How about that?" "I can do that." She leaned in and kissed me. I kissed back and it was like the first time I kissed her. It was so amazing. After we finished 'cleaning up' we went inside and got some ice cream. We had a lot of different flavors. Sky, being and ice cream-ohilic, got all the flavors in one big bowl. "You think you got enough?" I said knowing she was gonna say 'no'. She rolled her eyes at me. We decide to watch Ted 2. It was extremely funny. She laid down on my lap. I started playing with her hair as usual. Before I knew it she was snoring. I looked down and see her eyes closed. She always does this. I picked her up, bridal style, and took her upstairs. I laid her down and went to turn off the light. I heard her whisper something. "Stay with me. I can't sleep without you." I walked back to her and sat on the bed. I took my shirt off because it was hot. I laid down next to her and she wrapped her arms around my waist and laid on my chest. She fell asleep instantly. I stayed up for awhile thinking about my life and how Skylar has been the best improvement to it. After awhile I fell asleep.
~Marcus's Dream~
Skylar and we're walking along the shore. It was around 6:30 so the sun was setting. We had been out for hours just talking. It was so easy for me to open up to her. When the sun went all the way down, it started to get cold. We decide to walk home. Along the way we bumped into this group of people. "Sorry about that man." I said. They didn't say anything. They just stood there. The guy who looked like he was in charge took out a large knife. Me and Sky backed up but some more guys surrounded us. They grabbed Sky. I tried to go after her but one of the guys held me back. "Let her go!" I screamed. He didn't reply. He held the knife up to her neck. I begged him not to hurt her. He then lowered the knife. I sighed in relief. He then started ripping of her clothes. He threw her on the ground and him and two other guys started kicking her. Then the leader picked her up. I was balling and screaming trying to get to her but the guy holding me was way stronger than. Then they started taking turns raping her. She screamed my name asking me to help but I couldn't do anything. They finally stopped and left us there. I ran to her and laid her head on my lap. "Sky! It's okay I'm here!" "You didn't stop them. Why didn't you help me?" Then she stop moving. I sat there watching her bleed out. I had tears running down my face. Then I felt the ground shaking. The ground split in two and she fell in.

~end of dream~

I woke up and Sky was sitting there with tears on her face. "Are you okay?! You wouldn't wake up! I was about to call 911!"  She was still worried. She wiped the tears off my face as I did for her. She held my on her face a little longer. "It's okay. I'm better now." I said comforting her. She laid down on my chest. I stroked her hair. I could tell that stressed her out. She was really worried about me. I'm glad she cared but I felt bad that I caused her distress.
