“Thank you guys, you’ve been amazing tonight!” Luke shouted as their set came to an end. 5 Seconds of Summer’s performance tonight was so good and I loved seeing how happy they got when the crowd would sing along with them. They left the stage but the atmosphere in the arena didn’t falter. The crowd knew the boys were going to be on soon and they were waiting.
It was just me and Paul standing by the B-Stage tonight. My mom had gone back to the bus for some rest after Harry left the kitchen earlier and Lou was waiting for Tom and Lux to arrive. She had been saying that she was missing them greatly since we left for tour and she was really excited when she found out they were going to be flying out.
The lights went out and the screams erupted. The music began playing and I could feel my heart skip, just knowing who was behind those panels. No matter how many times I watched their show, this was the moment I always lived for. Even though I was friends with the, I still got excited as the anticipation of seeing them grew.
“It feels like we’ve been living in fast forward…”
I danced and sang along to the songs and was reminded how happy their music made me. This concert, the boys were a hot mess onstage. Niall and Harry did some adorable dancing together and Louis did a pelvic thrust that made all the girls go crazy. Liam jokingly did a bit of rapping and Niall changed up the lyrics on one of the songs. These were the moments I loved. They were spontaneous and just reiterated the fact that these guys were still pretty grounded. And can we please just take a moment to appreciate the way Harry’s body moves during “Teenage Dirtbag” and how he just feels the music in his entire self. When he punches the air, oh my god, there are literally no words.
When the boys eventually got to the B-Stage and began singing “One Way or Another” I grabbed Paul’s arm and turned to him with a smile.
“C’mon Paul, move a little! Dance with me!”
He chuckled and eventually gave in. I grabbed his hands and moved him around to the music. At one point I looked up at the stage and Louis looked down at me. He saw me dancing with Paul and started laughing right there on stage. He tapped Harry on the shoulder and pointed over to me. It took him a second for his eyes to register that it was Paul and I before he started laughing too. It was the really cute laugh where he looks down and smiles before looking back up, his gaze piercing me. Just with that one look, I knew how real my feelings were for him. He was more than just Harry Styles. More than just a celebrity. To me he was just Harry, the guy who made me laugh, who comforted me when we were watching a scary movie, who stole my cookies while I was making them.
I stayed till the very end of the show before returning backstage. I turned one of the corners and was surprised to see Lou standing there, her fingers typing away on her phone.
“Lou, what are you doing here? Where’s Tom and Lux?”
“They’re on the bus. Tom was so tired after today and it’s definitely past Lux’s bedtime.”
I laughed along with her.
“How is it having them here now?” I asked, a huge smile forming on her face.
“Oh my god, it is so nice. I really have missed them so much.”
“I can’t wait to see Lux in the morning,” I said excitingly.
