2. What Held Me Together

They were all around me, pushing me from every angle.  They were screaming and pulling at my clothes.  Everywhere I looked was another person.  There was absolutely no escape from this.  I could feel my body begin to fall and my breathing was picking up.  Suddenly one of the girls reached out and grabbed my arm, pulling me down as I screamed out for her to stop.

My eyes shot open.  I waited and listened for the screams that I could've sworn were real.  Instead I heard the faint sound of the TV.  I lifted my head up and focused my eyes, seeing my mom sitting on her bed.  Her back was against the headrest with her legs stretched out in front of her.  She turned to look at me as I began to sit up.

"Hey, did you have a good sleep?"

I nodded and wiped the small amount of drool from the side of my mouth.  How attractive.  I grabbed my phone and saw that it was 2:00 pm.  The day before was a crazy day of traveling and sleeping in so late today was not really my plan.  I usually try to get up no later than 11:00 in the morning because I don't like wasting my day too much.

"Do you want to go grab some lunch soon?" my mom asked me.  I nodded and got up.  Within half an hour, I was almost ready to go.  I threw on a pair of jeans, my converse, and a simple white shirt.  Last second I grabbed a flannel to throw over my t-shirt, put my hair up in a ponytail, then walked out the door with my mom.

"How'd you sleep Mom?"

"Pretty good.  I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and stubbed my toe on your damn suitcase."

"Oops, my bad," I said as I shrugged.  "So when are you actually going to start?"

My mom pressed the elevator button and we waited.

"I have to finalize the list of food I'll need, so mainly just like the simple stuff.  But I also need to think about the portions and amount of people in this crew.  And I suppose I'll want to mix it up sometimes."

I nodded as the elevator doors opened and we headed downstairs.  My mom was the hardest worker I knew so I knew how much thought was going into this list.  She also mentioned that she'd be meeting up with Paul, the boys' tour manager soon.  Just the thought of meeting somebody who knows One Direction made the butterflies in my stomach take off.  Out of habit, my arm wrapped around myself.  Oh god, how the hell am I going to be able to contain myself when I actually meet the five guys who make my emotions go crazy?

As we walked out of the front entrance of the hotel, I saw a crowd of girls still loitering not far away.  Oh my god, I'm pretty sure there are a couple girls I saw yesterday.  Did they even go home?  Did they even shower?!  Bitch, you better be clean.  As much as I love the boys, there's no way I could stand outside of their hotel in a crowd like that.  Being surrounded by that many fangirls would not be good for me.

My mom and I walked down the street until we found a little café to eat at.  We sat at one of the table outside and shortly after we were seated, the waitress came to take our orders.  Once she left, my mom let out a sigh and looked around at the people walking by.

"Can you believe we're here?" I asked her.  She looked at me and a small smile was beginning to form on her face.  She shook her head.

"Honestly, no.  But it's a great opportunity..."

"Oh for sure!" I said, interrupting her.

"Have you seen them yet?" she asked.

I shook my head and looked away.  The idea of meeting Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall, and Zayn absolutely terrifies me.  I found out who they were shortly after their season of the X Factor and became a fan immediately.  What if I say something stupid in front of them?  What if they genuinely don't like me?  What if I have a little episode in front of them?  My mind continued to race until my mom's voice snapped me out of my self-doubting.
